Name our GCC SERVICES E-Newsle er

Issue 1 - Q1/2012

Welcome to the 1st edi on of “GCC SERVICES BITES”! This will be our quarterly magazine in which we will communicate with our community, staff and customers all over the world. We wanted to have fun with the name of our newsle er, connec ng it to our core competency while at the same me sending a message to our compe on. However, I need to emphasize that we are more than just a catering company. Our Engineering & Construc on capabili es in Australia and Iraq have been very strong in helping us build a solid founda on for our future. It is a service that we will replicate with no hesita on in other countries where our customers demand it. We truly sell a unique experience: “Home away from Home”: the full turnkey remote site life support services. Last year has been a very busy year for all of us and this year thankfully, it does not look like it will slow down. The Oil & Gas and mining markets con nue to boom. This puts our services in high demand and in return places higher expecta ons on all of us. Therefore we should never compromise on our differen a ng “quality service” that puts us ahead of our compe on. In fact we have chosen QHSE to be one of our core values which we all embrace as a company to be part of our culture. At the same me of launching this newsle er, we are launching our Code of Ethics too and sharing our Values, Vision and Mission with the en re organiza on. These all unite us despite of geography, na onality or religion and create a common iden ty which we all relate to. The next step, which has already begun, is to make sure that we have the systems in place that will facilitate our daily jobs, rendering us more produc ve, efficient and concurrently making it easier for us to manage growth and to service our customers be er. This will strengthen our rela onship with our customers and they will ask for more services from us. These systems apply to finance, human resources, procurement & logis cs and last but least, opera ons. Always an cipa ng beforehand what the customers want and providing them with it before they ask for it.I hope you are as excited as I am in reading what our colleagues from the globe are sharing with us. We have contribu ons from Australia, France, Indonesia, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya and UAE which truly reflects that we are one connected global family. We have a lot to achieve this year. We look forward to your future contribu ons. Enjoy the bites and let us make 2012 a memorable one!

Business Development

GCC SERVICESCORPORATE NEWS

Recent significant developments are taking place in Iraq and Libya that offer us enormous growth opportunity and where we have had great success. Our venture in Papua New Guinea is an enormous opera on requiring par cular skills while mining opera ons in Australia and Indonesia are set to expand now that we are be er established.

The UAE is a mature market where we have a number of large scale projects to holdout for in the coming months and those that are in play in Iraq and Libya and where we have high hopes for rapid development are both large scale and sit on some of the world’s largest and most prominent Oil and Gas reserves in the world. More recently, entry to Uganda enables us to pursue a large scale oil development opportunity and further in Chile we are looking to establishing ourselves in a market holding a number of the world’s largest copper mines so offering a strong founda on for development opportunity.

In summary, each of these countries and the prospects we see before us, bring a great deal of op mism for 2012 and therefore we an cipate and are already witnessing an exci ng and as ever, a most even ul year, where we will need to ensure market awareness, demonstrate extreme compe veness and efficiency and bring strong ini a ves and crea vity. Importantly, we must be seen to offer differen a on in these markets to ensure a strong future as the preferred service provider.

Business Development is both a visionary and a support

arm of GCC SERVICES for the good development of our business. While we

are located in Kuwait we are there to provide support across all countries.

Our priori es in 2012 are those countries where we currently operate and otherwise have recently entered.

These include opera ons in Iraq, UAE, Libya, Indonesia, Australia and Papua New Guinea and most recently, entry into Uganda and Chile. We are therefore a truly global company with a diversified client base.

All these countries offer our organiza on tremendous growth prospects and in many cases, where we will also be able to develop beyond our core services. As this is our first global newsle er, we leave it for our global colleagues to tell us more about their respec ve ac vi es but for all to know, this is where we will be concentra ng our a en ons over the short to medium term.

We have been par cularly ac ve throughout 2010/2011 turning the organiza on from one of a majority Military support to one now more geared to remote site projects, for Oil & Gas, and Mining and Infrastructure development. We con nue work with the defense sector, par cularly in the UAE and s ll pursue selected UN opera ons and there will no doubt be in the Defense opera ons in the future.

Country Profile: Iraq

oil export facili es by Iran led the government to implement austerity measures, borrow heavily, and later reschedule foreign debt payments. Iraq suffered economic losses from the war of at least US$100 billion. A er hos li es ended in 1988, oil exports gradually increased with the construc on of new pipelines and restora on of damaged facili es. A combina on of low oil prices, repayment of war debts (es mated at around US$3 billion a year) and the costs of reconstruc on resulted in a serious financial crisis which was the main short term mo va on for the invasion of Kuwait.November 20, 2004, the Paris Club of creditor na ons agreed to write off 80% ($33 billion) of Iraq's $42 billion debt to Club members. Iraq's total external debt was around $120 billion at the me of the 2003 invasion, and had grown another $5 billion by 2004. The debt relief will be implemented in three stages: two of 30% each and one of 20%.

At the end of 2005, and in the first half of 2006, Iraq implemented a restructuring of about $20 billion of commercial debt claims on terms comparable to that of its November 2004 Paris Club agreement (i.e. with an 80% writeoff). Iraq offered to its larger claimants a U.S. dollar denominated bond maturing in 2028. Smaller commercial claimants received a cash se lement of comparable value.

Iraq has proven oil reserves of 143.1 billion barrels, the world's 2nd largest. Iraq's oil produc on is only about 2.5 million barrels per day. On June 30 and December 11, 2009, the Iraqi ministry of oil awarded service contracts to interna onal oil companies for some of Iraq's many oil fields. Oil fields contracted the "super-giant" Majnoon Field, Halfaya Field, West Qurna Field and Rumaila Field. In February 2011, Ci group included Iraq in a group of countries which it described as 'Global Growth Generators', that it argued will enjoy significant economic growth in the future.Source: h p://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq

Iraq Oil HistoryThe Iraq Petroleum Company (IPC), originally called the Turkish Petroleum Company, had a virtual monopoly on all oil explora on in Iraq in 1952. From the me that oil was discovered in Kirkuk in 1927 to the me that oil was discovered in Basra in 1938, very li le actual oil produc on was done. This was par ally due to the low global prices, and partly due to the fact that the mul na onal oil companies that controlled the IPC (read, Texas Oil Companies) didn't share Iraq's interests. It's this history of inten onal oil produc on suppression in Iraq that lends credibility to the claim by Greg Palast that we didn't invade Iraq to steal their oil, but instead to keep it in the ground. However, on February 14, 1952, things began to change when the Iraqi government renego ated the IPC’s license. Not only did Iraq start ge ng 50% of the company’s profits, but also 1) minimum produc on levels were set, 2) domes c refineries would get oil at below market rates, and 3) Iraqis would have a say in how the company was run. This agreement was further amended in 1954 and 1955, both

mes in Iraq's favor.

Recent Produc on in IraqA er the regime change, produc on - which virtually halted during the figh ng - began to increase. Deferred maintenance and damage to wells, gathering facili es, refineries, and mainline transport facili es slowed the effort to restart produc on. Security issues and difficul es with electric power supply have proven to be hindrances. Some oil - about 200,000 to 300,000 barrels per day - is being re-injected into wells because of local refining and transport

constraints in the northern fields around Kirkuk. In some instances refineries were stripping gasoline and propane frac ons from crude and re-injec ng the le over petroleum. Among other considera ons, this unusual measure poses a difficulty in determining how much net produc on is taking place. There are several sources of data on Iraq's oil output and exports, which are discussed below. They show somewhat differing amounts, sugges ng some uncertainty about exactly how much is being produced and how much is being sold interna onally for cash earnings. The Department of State's Iraq Weekly status Report for March 23, 2005, reports mid-month produc on of 2.05 mbd, slightly below earlier months; the illustra on containing this figure suggests that produc on averaged about 2.1 mbd during early 2005. State also notes that the Ministry of Oil's produc on goal is 2.5 mbd and that the recent pre-war peak output was 2.67 mbd. State has export figures - accompanied by export revenues - that appear very precise. Table 1. Iraq Crude Output and Revenues — Early 2005

Iraq Oil Business 2010-2011When Iraq auc oned rights to rebuild and expand its oil industry two years ago, the Russian company Lukoil won a he y por on – a field holding about 10 percent of Iraq's known oil reserves. It seemed a geopoli cal victory for Lukoil. And because only one of the 11 fields that the Iraqis auc oned off went to an American oil company - Exxon Mobil - it also seemed as if few petroleum benefits would flow to the country that took the lead role in the war, the United States. The auc on's outcome helped defuse cri cism in the Arab world that the United States had invaded Iraq for its oil. "No one, even the United States, can steal the oil," the Iraqi government spokesman, Ali al-Dabbagh, said at the me. But American companies can, apparently, drill for the oil. In fact, American drilling companies stand to make tens of

billions of dollars from the new petroleum ac vity in Iraq long before any of the oil producers’ start seeing any returns on their investments.Lukoil and many of the other interna onal oil companies that won fields in the auc on are now subcontrac ng mostly with the four largely American oil services companies that are global leaders in their field: Halliburton, Baker Hughes, Weatherford Interna onal and Schlumberger. Those four have won the largest por on of the subcontracts to drill for oil, build wells and refurbish old equipment."Iraq is a huge opportunity for contractors," Alex Munton, a Middle East analyst for Wood Mackenzie, a research and consul ng firm based in Edinburgh, said by telephone.Mr. Munton es mated that about half of the $150 billion the interna onal majors are expected to invest at Iraqi oil fields over the next decade would go to drilling subcontractors - most of it to the big four operators, which all have es to the Texas oil industry.Halliburton and Baker Hughes are based in Houston, as is the drilling unit of Schlumberger, which is based in Paris. Weatherford, though now incorporated in Switzerland, was founded in Texas and s ll has big opera ons there.Michael Klare, professor of peace and world security studies at Hampshire College and an authority on oil and conflict, said that American oil services companies were generally dominant both in the Middle East and globally because of their advanced drilling technology. So it is no surprise, he said, they came out on top in Iraq, too - whatever the ini al diploma c appearances.United States officials have said that American experts who advised the Iraqi oil ministry about ways to restore andincrease petroleum produc on did so without seeking any preferences for American companies.

And immediately a er the 2009 auc on round won by Lukoil, the United States Embassy spokesman in Baghdad, Philip Frayne, told Reuters that "the results of the bid round should lay to rest the old canard that the U.S. intervened in Iraq to secure Iraqi oil for American companies."But Professor Klare said that the American officials who had advised the Iraqi government on its contrac ng decisions almost certainly expected American oil services companies to win a good por on of the business there, regardless who won the primary contracts."There's no ques on that they would assume as much," he said. The American oil services companies, which have been in Iraq for years on contract with the United States occupa on authori es and military, are expanding their presence even as the American military prepares to pull out. For example, Halliburton, once led by former Vice President Dick Cheney, has 600 employees in Iraq today and said in a statement that it intended to hire several hundred more before the end of the year. "We con nue to win significant contracts in Iraq, and are inves ng heavily in our infrastructure," Halliburton said. The 11 contracts Iraq signed with oil majors, including the six for the largest fields, are intended to raise Iraqi output from about 2.5 million barrels of oil a day now to 12 million barrels daily in 2017. Some of the oil services contracts are for repairing currently produc ve fields, others to tap mostly unused sites.

HOME MADE HEALTHY PIZZABy: Madhawe Perera, HR Officer-Kuwait

Who said that pizza can’t be healthy? Pizza doesn't have to be junk food and a pizza lover doesn't have to feel guilty all the me just because you’re not making a be er food choice. A pizza can be a versa le meal that can be healthy depending on

what’s on top! Instead of having a Pepperoni or ‘Meat Lover’s’ flavor, why don’t you boost the fiber content of your pizza and load it with lots of vegetables as an alterna ve? Here’s how you can enjoy your pizza without sacrificing your cholesterol.

Special equipment needed:

• Large bowl • Oven • Plas c cling wrap• Wax Paper

Pizza Ingredients• Olive oil• Tomato sauce • Mozzarella cheese, shredded• Mushrooms, thinly sliced• Bell peppers, stems and seeds removed, thinly sliced• Chicken, marinated in Soya sauce and cut into small strips • Eggplant, thinly sliced• Onions, thinly sliced

Pizza dough: Makes enough dough for four 8-10 inch pizzas

• 1 tablespoon ac ve dry yeast• 1 1/2 cups warm water • 500 grams bread flour • 2 tablespoon olive oil• 2 tea spoons of salt • 1 table spoon of sugar

How to make Pizza dough

1. In an empty large bowl, add the warm water. Then sprinkle on the yeast un l it dissolves in water. S r well and keep it a few minutes un l the yeast is totally dissolved.2. Mix the olive oil, flour, salt, and sugar in the bowl. Con nue mixing un l the dough is smooth and flexible. You can also use an electric mixer for a smooth dough. If the dough seems a li le too wet, sprinkle a bit more flour on. 3. Cover the dough with plas c wrap and keep in a warm place for about 2 hours un l it doubles in size and becomes so er.

Preparing the pizzas

1. Remove the plas c cover from the dough and punch the dough down so it deflates a bit. Divide the dough into 4 parts to make 8-10 inches flat dough circles. 2. Working one ball of dough at a me, take one ball of dough and fla en it with your hands. Stretch it up to 8-10 inches using your fingers. Make sure that the middle base is thinner than the edge. 3. Brush the top of the dough with olive oil (to prevent it from ge ng soggy from the topping). Let it stand for 1-3 minutes un l the olive oil is fully absorbed. 4. Put the fla ened dough into wax paper.5. Spoon on the tomato sauce and spread on the dough evenly, then sprinkle it with mozzarella cheese. Randomly place the rest of the toppings on (thinly sliced tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, eggplant, and chicken strips). Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top again.6. Pre-heat the oven to 200°C. Bake the pizza’s one at a me for 10-15 minutes un l the crust turns brown and the cheese

is golden in color. Repeat the same procedure for the rest of the pizza’s. Tips:

* You can add other vegetables and fruits like cucumber, spinach, broccoli, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, pineapple, peach, etc.

* You can use low-fat type cheese to cut calories and saturated fats. * Instead of chicken, you can use low-carb sausage or tuna.

Healthy Snacks in the Office

The key to healthy ea ng is to make sure we eat several meals and snacks throughout the day. This ensures our metabolism is going strong and our blood sugar and energy levels remain stable, preven ng us from

overea ng. We usually eat lunch around noon, which means by about 3 or 4pm we are ready for a SNACK. If you are home, it is fairly easy to grab a healthy snack, but what about at the office? Ten Pin Bowling Tournament: Another 1st in GCC SERVICES History!

A er an endeavor in the Basketball Tournament at 24th PABAK Conference last November 2010 to March 2011, GCC SERVICES hosted the first Ten Pin Bowling Tournament on February 23 at the Cozmo Bowling Complex in Mahboula.

At first, some of the par cipants were anxious with their first me game experience while some had their fun prac ce the day before the event. One of the employees commented, "Anybody can bowl", picking up a ball, standing on the approach and throwing it at the pins 60 feet away. Anybody, regardless of age can do those three

simple things. What makes it more exci ng is when you get a lucky strike; you’re then determined to play more.

All par cipa ng employees received a meal voucher at the venue and had the chance to par cipate in the free raffle draw distributed by Nico Smit, Director of Human Resources and Administra on. There were 10 lanes reserved for GCCS employees and all par cipants played a single round. Each lane consists of 5 individual players vying for the Top 10 spots. Before the start of the game, everybody had the chance at a trial play. Enthusiasm, noise cheering, and exuberant reac ons were shown by GCCS par cipants.

During the first round, each player showed their energe c throws and target scores. Amazingly, most of the first me bowlers had made their way to be the top scores. Some were posi oned to low rank but did not bring to a halt ll they finished the ten turns. A er comple ng the first round, the Top 10 bowlers were announced, i.e. Catalina Bibat (HR), Abdelgadir Mohammed (ADMIN), Salvador Fernandez (FINANCE), Shaikh Mastan (ADMIN), Almira Arquero (FINANCE), Shiva Shankar (ADMIN), Rainelda Rio (FINANCE), Rommel Puguon (BD), Ernani Arce (PLD) and Leandro Alea (PLD). It was a momentous event for all who played the 2nd

round and every top bowler tried their best to get the highest score.

The much awaited 3rd and final round were given to the top two bowlers, Leandro and Ernani, both from Procurement and Logis cs Department. It was a breathtaking moment watching Ernani tenaciously challenged for the final round with the total score of 135. But with the consistent strikes and unquievering focus of his opponent, Leandro won the first place with a total score of 180.

All the top 10 bowlers received their cer ficates and T-shirts from Cozmo while the top 2 bowlers received a watch each and a trophy for the winner. Certainly one of the very best areas of this tournament was the camaraderie and friendship that evolved among the employees. Hopefully, GCC SERVICES will con nue to support teambuilding ac vi es like bowling and other events to gather all the employees in a relaxed se ng away from the stressful work environment. STRIKE!!!
