I have visited the InnerHebrides often and createda sketchbook of the visits.I find the views breathtak-ing and have attempted totranslate this wonder into aninteresting and emotive ex-hibition. To capture the vastexpanse of sea and sky, withthe light reflecting from theocean, was one of the chal-lenges.

I hope it gives a smallglimpse into the variety,beauty and mystery of thislandscape.

Conley said he was thrilledto have been offered the rolea yearago afterMackintoshsre-imagining of the musicalwas played to sell-out crowdsat the Chichester Festival.

He said: PT Barnum was ahuge icon in the US. He wasthe first man to really under-stand how advertising worksand how to bring people in.

It was really good to re-search him and is nice toknow we are not making itup as we go along.

The veteran Royal VarietyShow performer and star ofmany of his own televisionshows, Conley said playinga showman was not in totalcontrast to his own career.

There are some similari-ties there, he said. I havesome lovely moments to in-terject with the audience atthe beginning of the showand thats nice to do.
