January 1, 2020 - Update on Gate of Heaven Parking Lot
Over the past summer and fall months the parish and archdiocese have actively sought bids to complete the
parking lot construction. The costs were very high We will continue to work in January to get better pricing on the excavation and paving so that we can complete the project this Spring. WE NEED YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT to finish the project. We were hoping this work would begin this fall - but due to many con-
straints we may have to wait until Feb/March to begin the work. We hope that our Grand Annual Collection this year will help with the rising cost of the paving
and landscaping of our new parking lot. The Archdiocese will not allow us to conclude this pro-
ject until we have all the financing in place.

hope which does not disappoint, for it
The Feast of the Epiphany According to tradition, the wise men were sages, watchers of the constellations, observers of the heavens in a cultural and religious context which saw the stars as having significance and power over human affairs. The wise men represent men and woman who seek God in the world's religions and philosophies: an unending quest. The wise
men are thus models of conversion to the true faith, since they be-lieved more in the goodness of God than in the apparent splendor of power. The crib points us to a different path from the one cherished by the thinking of this world.. It is the path of God's self-abasement, his glory concealed in the manger of Bethlehem, on the cross upon Calvary, in each of our suffering brothers and sisters. In our life, there are several stars,” he warned. And it’s up to us to choose which to follow. There are many “flashing lights” in our lives, like success and money, which come
and go, which may be good, but are not enough, because they do not give lasting peace. The Magi, instead, invite you to follow a stable and friendly Light, which shall not pass, because it is not of this world,” he ex-plained. It comes from “heaven and shines in the heart.” Today, follow the “bright star of Jesus,” he said. Have courage, because the “light of Jesus can overcome the darkest darkness.” Pope Francis

Gate of Heaven Parish- Memorial Paver Order Form The new parking lot and plaza area that will be created in place of the former Gate of Heaven School building will feature a beau-tiful plaza with a marble statue of Our Lord with two children. Surrounding the statue in the plaza area and in the walkway along the church pavers will be installed. Similar to the pavers surrounding the parking area behind the church and the Holy Family statue – we will install memorial pavers with inscriptions in the new parking plaza area. These pavers are larger and will provide more space for lettering to be inscribed on each paver. Each paver will cost $250 to cover the cost of the paver, inscription and installation. There will be three lines of engraved text with 15 characters per line (including spaces). To order a paver please complete this information sheet and return it to the Parish Office or in the collection basket in an envelope clearly marked: “Gate of Heaven Memorial Pavers.” Pavers will be installed next Spring, 2020. Some suggestions for engraved text: “In memory of John Smith….” “In Honor of Sr. Mary Joseph….” “Gift of the Smith Family…” “Gift from the Walsh Family” “Mary Smith – Gate of Heaven School – Class of 1962….”
