Checklist 3 Garment workmanship (DN3) page 2 Defect description Inspect the stock and classify the defects found as major or minor in the following manner: Major defects are obvious to the consumer at the point of sale (eg. large fabric hole). Check garment for (a) one or more major defects, (b) measurement variations, or (c) four or more minor defects. (Remember each garment is to be counted only once). Minor defects detract from the overall quality of the garment but are minor in nature (eg. threads). Defects found (x) 1 Care instructions (as per Kmart instructions, correct position, legible) 2 Other woven labels (brand, country of origin, size, correct position, legible) 3 Sewing (straightness, stitch size, puckering, slip stitch) 4 Sewing threads (colour match) 5 Seams (strength, clean cut, correct bite, slippage, neatness, extension without breaking) 6 Needle damage to fabric 7 Buttons (correct to purchase order, size, colour, alignment, securely attached) 8 Button holes (finish, correct size, alignment, clean cut, secure tie- off) 9 Zippers (colour match, length, ease of use, locking, sharp edges) 10 Metal snaps (securely attached, moderate catch, correct colour, alignment) 11 Pocket/flaps (correct placement, neatness. corners secured, alignment) 12 Pocket lining (correct size, secure seams, neatly trimmed, correct colour) 13 Belt/scarf (correct colour, length, eyelets, buckle, puckering) 14 Collars (puckering, buckled, centred, equal peaks, properly shaped, neatly attached) 15 Sleeves and legs (same length, equal size opening) 16 Cuffs (matching size and shape, twisting, puckering, correctly attached) 17 Lining and interlinings (correct colour, poor fitting, twisted) 18 Neck/head opening conforms to Kmart minimum stretched requirements 19 Matching (pockets, flaps, yokes, darts, tucks, pleats) 20 Checks and stripes must match unless otherwise specified on the purchase order 21 Finish (pressed, folding, hanger marks, pressing marks, soiling, wrinkling, pilling) 22 Colour prints and solids (correct colouration, print registration, print marks, shading) 23 Knits (barre, drop stitches, stretch and recovery, even brushed, knots, fly) 24 Wovens (slubs, snags, broken ends, holes, floats, frosting, nap, abrasion) 25 Elastic (ends correctly anchored at seams, sufficient stretch, correct recovery) 26 Other: Summary of garments with unacceptable measurements variations Point of measurement Variation range Number of garments

21 Finish (pressed, folding, hanger marks, pressing marks, soiling, wrinkling, pilling)

22 Colour prints and solids (correct colouration, print registration, print marks, shading)

23 Knits (barre, drop stitches, stretch and recovery, even brushed, knots, fly)

24 Wovens (slubs, snags, broken ends, holes, floats, frosting, nap, abrasion)
