  • From Memphis, Alvin Youngblood Hart is one of the world’s leading new blues powers. Raised on the music of great American bluesmen Charlie Patton, Robert Johnson and Taj Mahal, the Grammy Award winning vocalist/guitarist plays powerful contemporary blues rooted in the Delta, blending technique and feeling, structure and spontaneity, tradition and freshness. “Boy got thunder in his hands! Sure does” (Taj Mahal).

Otis Taylor is a musical alchemist and a true blues innovator, playing a unique electric version of Delta-inspired music. Haunting guitar and banjo, soaraway violin, heavy rhythmic groove, crashing guitar solos, and a combination of gruff vocals, shouts and yells of raw passion create his signature “trance blues”. “Taylor’s imaginative and sometimes-reckless instrumentation satisfies your soul while his brilliant, thought-provoking wordplay massages your brain” (Washington Post).

With thrilling empathy, phenomenal solos and a driving musical energy, Colin Steele’s trumpet fronts a Quintet who cover the classic music of Miles Davis’ seminal acoustic albums, from “Milestones” to “Kind Of Blue”.

Classic ‘50s and ‘60s American blues, sprinkled with rockabilly and blues-rock. Whether laying into a Freddie King ballad or digging into a hypnotic Muddy Waters tune, Potts’ spirited vocals and sophisticated blues guitar always sound fresh and current.

Claiming the new genre of doom-jazz, AKU! play a mix of hard hitting heavy rhythmical originals and covers of artists like Shabaka Hutchings, Fela Kuti and Young Fathers! Featuring three of Glasgow’s most exciting young talents: Harry Weir - tenor/baritone saxophone/effects, Liam Shortall - trombone/tuba/effects, Graham Costello – drums.

There’s nothing more salivating in jazz than a classic Saxophone-Organ-Drums Band. The most exciting young saxophonist in Scottish Jazz, Matt Carmichael, joins forces with two of the greatest players of grooving jazz: with the brilliant Pete Johnstone on organ and Doug Hough on drums. Together they produce beautiful atmospheric soundscapes, but also greasy, smoke drenched soul-jazz, bluesy ballads and lighting fast bop.
