A Wimbledon tennis retrospective.

The 2020 Wimbledon championships may have been cancelled but tennis enthusiasts

can still enjoy a little sporting nostalgia with this display featuring images from the

Merton Heritage Service archives.

This shows the Club just four years after it opened at the Church Road site - compare this to the modern photo.

In recent years the Club has undergone major refurbishment with the addition of new broadcast facilities, a new No.1 court in

Aorangi Park, extra grass courts and the creation of a tunnel linking Church Road and Somerset Road. In this picture you

can also clearly see the enlarged Centre Court, with its retractable roof.
