SUBSTITUTE TEACHER SALARY SCHEDULE

July 1, 2019

RANK I & II - RETIRED TEACHERS $133 per day

RANK I MA + 30 (certified) $111 per day

RANK II MA (certified) $111 per day

RANK III BA/BS (certified) $105 per day

RANK IV BA/BS (no certificate) $82 per day

RANK IV 96+ hours (no degree) $81 per day

RANK V 64 - 95 hours $78 per day LONG TERM SUB ASSIGNMENT (if a teacher is out 21 days or more then the following applies):

A substitute assigned to the same position for more than 20 consecutive student instructional days is considered a long-term substitute.

A certified substitute will be paid in accordance with the Certified Substitute Salary Schedule for the first 20 days of a long-term assignment. Beginning on the 21st consecutive day, the substitute will be paid in accordance with the daily rate of the rank of the substitute at zero years of experience, as determined by the Certified Salary Schedule; however, retired teachers will be compensated at their state-calculated Daily Wage Threshold beginning the 21st day of a long-term assignment, in accordance with TRS regulations. Additionally, once a substitute reaches long-term assignment status, the pay increase as outlined above will be retroactive to the first 20 days of service.

Any break in service (except for catastrophic circumstances, sick leave as defined by Owensboro Public School policy, death of a family member, or absences prearranged and approved by the school principal and the human resources office prior to taking a long-term assignment) will result in pay reverting to day-one status. The pay increase process must then be repeated as future days are served in the same assignment.

Notes: Effective July 1, 2002, KTRS regulations mandate all substitutes working in certified positions (retired, college students, etc.) to contribute to the KTRS retirement system.

Effective July 1, 2007 all retired teachers will receive a DAILY WAGE THRESHOLD from KTRS. The 100-day program will no longer be available.

RETIREES: PLEASE FORWARD A COPY OF THE DAILY WAGE THRESHOLD FORM from KTRS to the PERSONNEL DEPT. EACH YEAR. When retired Kentucky teachers enter into a long term substitute contract for a teacher on leave, they will be paid at their daily wage threshold for the duration of the leave.
