FY17 WIU-QC Facilities Presentation3/28/2017
• The mission of WIU-Quad Cities Facilities is to maintain
and enhance the campus physical environment in
support of academic and other related functions of the university.
• To accomplish this mission staff sometime have to
wear many different hats
Security Staff
I wear my Yukon Alaskan Tracker hat because it is warm and cozy and
keeps my ears warm while I am on patrol and giving out parking
tickets.
John Stevian
My hat indicates family patriotism as my family has served this country
in every armed conflict since the civil war. My youngest is a fighter
pilot in the U.S. Air Force, at present serving in Korea. I am a Army
veteran of the Viet Nam war. This is the reason I wear the hat.
Bob Barlow
This hat is a constant reminder of all the 50 plus years of fond memories while riding
my Harley with my wife. The road trips with our friends . The feeling of complete
freedom from the open road. In addition the many Charity poker runs to support so
many great organizations and benefits.....
Mike Clifton
As security we wear many hats. And if you know my supervisor ( Bill
Brewer ) you know this to be true...... LOL! At work and at home, my
motto is "safety first".

My hat represents my love for basketball. Its from the 1998 NBA All-Star game,
which was the first All-Star game I watched on tv. Also, Michael Jordan's third
and final all star MVP award was in 1998 when he played for the Chicago Bulls,
which is where I was born. A fun fact….the old Utah Jazz jerseys were purple
which are the same as WIU
Kris Wesley
I‘m a big motorcycle enthusiast, but at heart I’m a Harley guy.
Nothing better than getting on my road glide and taking a ride
Tony Campagna
My hat is from my son's baseball team, where all my free time and
money go . I’ve been his biggest fan since he started. He's currently
in his senior year and they have earned a trip to Florida in April. I
guess my hat symbolizes being a proud dad
Terry Mitchell
I’m a life long Cub’s fan and listened/watched almost every regular season
game in 2016, certainly all in their successful playoff run. Anticipating another
Cubs championship this year. I also like the Texas Rangers and Minnesota
Twins (even though Kristi Mindrup likes them)
Michael Buller
Something people may not know about me is that I have two children. My first, Silas Sage, age
4 and my daughter, Harper Blu whose first birthday happens to be today, March 28th! I decided to start my family a bit later than most, at age 38. Working 3rd shift and having two
little ones is exhausting, so if you ever come across me in the early morning hours don't be
alarmed if I look shell - shocked or appear unresponsive. I am not suffering a stroke, just tired
and unaccustomed to the company of other adults.
Michelle Padilla
Alex is a senior studying Supply Chain Management. His outside
interests are running, frisbee golf, paintball and skeet shooting
Alex Lucas
Steve's interests include photography, graphic arts, hiking, canoeing
and outdoor activities. He has just acquired an internship with the
Corp of Engineers to assist with natural resource management and is
working towards completing both his bachelors and masters in RPTA.
Steve Acuff
The John Deere hat represents the most obvious tools, the JD tractors, that persons on
campus would notice as I utilize them to mow grass and remove snow. On a personal note,
my wife (Linda) and I enjoy target shooting together, which requires hearing protection. Too
often Linda shoots a higher score than me, as a consequence she makes me wear the pink
muffs for the next round. She knows how to motivate me."
Ralph Turner
This is my oldest fishing hat given to me 26 years ago by my brother-in-law. Since my
brother-in-law and my wife are both ISU grad’s I had to have one to get in the boat ,
we always try and go fishing at least once a year in Northern Minnesota. But my
favorite hat is by far the one in the next picture.
Joe Ackerman
My choice for the hat I wear at home is "YOUR BASIC HAT". This hat basically represents all of
the hats I wear at home. I am the sec/trea of a cemetery, support veterans, root for the
Mallards, take care of my new homestead of 4-5 acres, act as the family electrician, plumber
and general fixaller. I am a Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather, and now I also have the roll of
Mother and Grandmother to add to everything else....so just like at work, I wear many hats at
home also.

Honorary Facilities Hat Wearers
The Last Hat
I’m partial to wearing other’s hats. As an architect that opportunity
gives me insight and accountability to do quality design. The same
applies to assisting in managing the operations side of Facilities. Plus
it’s way too much fun.
