Industry Summit

Our aim

To be as trade facilitative as possible in order to create an international trade

environment across the border continuum that reduces the cost of doing

business internationally; while not weakening our border protection

functions.

We’re considering opportunities for:

• expedited border clearance, processing and release of shipments

• earlier clearance, with greater certainty of clearance outcome

• more flexible ways to report cargo

• adaptable solutions within changing industry business models

Industry Summit

• Do you have any international trade business processes that are

made more complicated or less certain by meeting current cargo

reporting or other legislative requirements? What impact do they

have and how significant are they?

• In what ways do you feel that the current trade reporting framework –

legislation, policy and systems – used by the Department has not

kept up with developments in the international trade industry? How

could the Department leverage these developments to manage the

border more effectively and less intrusively?

• What future business models are the trade and supply chain

industries likely to investigate and/or adopt in the medium to long

term, which the Department should consider adapting to now?

• Do you have suggestions for other initiatives to be considered?

• Of the initiatives suggested, what do you consider to be the priorities?
