CLEANINGANDREPLACINGCONSUMABLES

Cleaning the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) Components

CAUTION

Disconnect the scanner from power outlet

CAUTION

Allow the glass in the ADF to cool for at least three

minutes before cleaning it

Press the two blue buttons to open up the ADF compartment

Use a clean cloth moistened with V1 cleaner to wipe the entire

surface of these components:

a. brake rollers - you may want to open the brake roller

compartment to clean these rollers as they are difficultto turn

b. pick rollers - turn one roller while wiping the surface of

the other roller down.

Clean these components with the cloth moistened with V1 cleaner as well:a. chute roller

b. pick arm

c. feed rollers

d. sheet guide

e. glass flats

Clean the plastic rollers with F2 cleaner

Gently close the ADF after allowing the ADF components to dry for a few

Cleaning the Flatbed

Press on the flatbed cover handle and carefully lift up until the

cover stays open so that you can access the glass surface.

Wipe the glass surface with a clean cloth moistened with V1 cleaner

Allow the glass surface to dry for a few minutes

Gently close the flatbed cover and resume scanner operation

Using a Cleaning Sheet to Clean the ADF Components

Leave the scanner connected to the power outlet.

Let the glass surface cool a few minutes if the scanner has been in

operation recently

Moisten a cleaning sheet with V1 cleaner and feed it through the scanner .

Repeat this until the sheet is noticeably dirty.

Discard the cleaning sheet

REPLACING THECONSUMABLES

Replacing the Brake Rollers

Press the two blue buttons to open the ADF

Open the brake roller compartment door

Lift the brake roller set from the door. Note the orientation of the shiny

black roller on the left side of the compartment door.

Install the new brake roller set into the door with the shiny black roller on

the left.

Close the brake roller compartment door. If you encounter any resistance

Close the ADF and resume scanner operation

To reset the Brake Roller Counter see your scanner manual or consult with

your computer software support department.

Press the two blue buttons to open the ADF

Replacing the Pick Rollers

Open the Pick Roller compartment door using your thumb

Slide one pair of pick rollers to the right to remove it from the shaft and

replace it with the matching set from your kit. The smoother, smaller, set

of rollers are the first in the paper path, followed by the larger, treaded

rollers.

Make sure that the notch on the roller set lines up with the screw on the

Close the Pick Roller compartment door. If the door doesnt completely

close and lie flat, check that the two sets of rollers are installed properly.

Close the ADF and resume scanner operation.

To reset the Pick Roller Counter see your scanner manual or consult with

your computer software support department.
