Someday Maybe

someday maybeyou will read thisand realize just how happyyou make me feelbut then you willalready realize thatfor in you I see suchgreat things that I amleft wondering again

at the infinite beautythat all of this isand why does it vex mewith all of my sinswhy does it forgive my transgressions?and gave me this key to heaventhis instance of redemptionof real happinessthat I have when I am with you

I Find Myself Alone

I find myself alonefor the first time in a long whileeveryone has leftbut I don’t care I stand here at the windowand look down the streetwith a reminiscent stareand wonder what will end upwith them allhow will they all fare?

as I face the factthat this is my pathmy moment to actand funny though it ismy thoughts turn to herthis girl I have just metand I finally realizewhat the purpose islife’s big gift, it’s love.

Another Night Alone

another night alonebut in a different wayI am todayfor my mindfinally feels at homeI’m not concerned anymore with the whyor how of where I have beenI’m tired of all my sins so I’m shredding them

and giving into the final temptationof love

Rain Drops Falling

rain drops fallingI hear them callingto me to go outsideget my head wetsoak my feet in the mudtwirl my armsstare up into the skyand join the cloudsin their joyous rapture

of nature just to stoparms spread wideas the waves of raincease in a large crescendoleaving only silenceand my heart beating loudlyabove my gapingempty jaw

Lost in my Mind

lost in my mindand unsure of how to get out

wandering from memory to memory

reliving all the things from my past

that I have cared to forget

how can I get the hell out of here?

not only have I lost the key

but I can't find the door either

and my thoughtsare slowly running

out of

time

aching backfrom a ride down the trailon horsebackthrough the memories of my youththoughts from so long agowhen I was unawareof the evils out thereand little much to caresave for hitting the target

pellet rifle in handtormenting the touristsfrom the nearby dude ranchin the sand

and wonderwonder at whatthe future might bring

in convulsive painand could this all just belife paying me backfor all my sinsand past transgressions?or is it just the failing bodyof an old drug addict?

and stare at my pageand type some more wordsmy tin cup still rattling while I write

free?am I with you?is it my smile that shines downand lights your way?at the break of daywhen you open your eyesand the light of the sunflitters in?

Time Moves On

time moves onand leaves me standingback in the dirtby the side of the roadnowhere to gono home to call my ownso I walk alongkick stoneswhistle at the birdsand stare at the sky

the blue expansesoaks out my sinsand makes me feel young againit is a long time pastand I remember my baggageI left way back thereI never needed it

the clouds are outsidecrying their way into my mindthe rhythm startsand I cannot but helpto give inso I shake my handsmy fists fly freemy body starts to shakeand my feet stomp out before mepointing at the sky

to the maker of allof the whythis dance a thousand timeshas been done by the onethe ancient onefrom the desertshriveled bitterand wise

old man sitting on the porchchain smoking cigarettesMarlboro of courseand in between each sipof his scotch whiskyhe would smile at meand tell me what’s duewhat ails the worldand what he would doall the plans that he had

all the reasons to fix itmake the world a better placebefore death makes him kick itleave something to his kidsother than money, status and societal wealthfunny I always thought he had forgotten about loveuntil the endwhen through the morphine hazeand his drug induced stuporhe had my handand said I love you sonand it was with thatall the evils were undone

falling in lovewatching the sun rise and the sun setfrom afarsuch a great distance between uslonging to beonly with youto find out your secretsand what things mean to yousimple idiosyncrasiesthe particulars that make you human

and endear you to meto hold your handas the world walks byand stare intentlyinto those beautiful blue eyesI have to ask myselfwhy? Why has the world decided to torment me?torture me with the thought of youseemingly unattainablea part of another worldfar awaydo you watch the sun set and the sun rise?do you long also to be by each other’s side?

driving the truckdown the dirt roadthe same roadwe drove on beforeheading down to the same old ditchthe same old ditch where we first did kissthat same first kiss where you said to methat I was the one for youand this was all meant from heaven to beand all I knew

was that I was going to get under your skirtlittle did I realize all the commotion and hurtthat all that would causethe chaos in our livesthe great fallbut here we aredriving down that roadthat same old roadthat started it allbumping in along in an old pickup trucka little high a little tipsytwo beers from drunkstereo is loudand it’s time to kiss you

when he’s ready for the full moon that country girlis done and throughleaving himwith only his gin

Christopher L. Jones is an author, poet and artist

living in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. Originally born inTucson, Arizona, he has been a survivor of mentalillness, specifically bi-polar disorder, for most of hislife. A graduate of New Mexico State University witha degree in Philosophy and Theater Arts, he hasspent over twenty five years contributing to thevarious performing arts groups in his community.His work has been described as "masturbating onthe world’s stage in verse" and "...exactly what is

wrong with the average white American male..."Christopher started writing after being introduced topoetry as a form of art therapy as a teenager andhas not stopped since. Aside from working withwords, he is a single father of one.

Having majored in technical theater and artsmanagement, Christopher has been active backstage since his childhood, mostly working in theareas of lighting and scenic design, sound design,

properties design, stage management andproducer.
