Impacts from CCA-Treated Wood Within Marine and Terrestrial Environments
Specific Aims
• Evaluate the impacts of arsenic from CCA-treated wood by measuring the species of arsenic that are leached from different environmental samples.
• Develop methods for arsenic speciation in the particulate phase.
• Laboratory Evaluation (Phase I)– Method Development (Myron)– Leaching Experiments/Soil Column (Bernine)– Data Evaluation
• Field Evaluation (Phase II)– Deck Sampling (Bernine)– Marine Dock Sampling (Yong)– Data Evaluation

2-way valve
•Analyze for arsenic species
•Rainwater runoff data – estimate how much arsenic & rate of leaching from deck to soil
•Percolating rainwater – arsenic migration rate through soil
