Authentication Recognition is the primary skill in authentication.

Everything genuine has a hallmark that separates it from a counterfeit.

This also applies to creation of an authentic item, all the hallmarks must be present before we can say that this genuine.

Faith is no different so that we can both identify when we have faith and so that we produce the genuine article let us look at the characteristics of true faith. Eight times in scripture Jesus made definite mention of the

fact that what He had been presented with was faith in its genuine form.

If we can identify those hallmarks and see them in our faith this will gives us confidence when we use it.

Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith – so whatever He says on the subject is paramount! Hebrews 12:1-2

Identifying Real Faith - Hallmark #1 A Problem that only God could solve

This either by our choice on our part e.g. asking God

to provide an opening into an industry; whereby we will

only settle for Gods will for something and nothing else

even if it requires a risk

or By the fact that it is in and of itself impossible.

Our God thrives in the realm of the impossible

Luke 1:26 – 38(37) , Genesis 18:1-15(14)

The Woman with the issue of blood Mark 5:25 – 34 / Matthew 9:20 - 22

Identifying Real Faith - Hallmark #2 Gods Word or report was believed

this means to accept that God is true to His word with

or without evidence . Belief : to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of

something, although without absolute proof that one is right in doing so

(Dictionary.com)

Belief is built up or developed.

Jude v20 – 21;

We must believe before we come to God not after.

Hebrews 11:6 ; Mark 11:22 – 24

Mark 2:1 – 12 (AMP)

Identifying Real Faith - Hallmark #3 Desperation

To be desperate defined is as follows: reckless or dangerous because of despair or urgency

having an urgent need, desire, etc.

leaving little or no hope; very serious or dangerous(Courtesy Dictionary.com)

We can summarise this as follows : making a final, ultimate effort; giving all. Essentially “if this does not work, I have no alternative”.

Violent – Faith always thrives in persistence Matthew 11:12

to force, that is, (reflexively) to crowd oneself (into), or (passively) to be seized: - press, suffer violence.

None of these miracles were on the schedule of Jesus

None of these miracles were within the normal day-to-day activities of the recipients

Identifying Real Faith - Hallmark #4 Action

Faith in its true form will always produce an action in us, meaning if there is no action we have not really believed. James 1:14 – 17, Mark 11:22 – 25, Psalm 1:1 -3 The primary action God expects is SPEECH!

Actions are the triggers of the fulfilment of the promises of God. For every action there is a definite reaction or a response.

ASK – Matthew 7:7 - 11

TRUST – Jeremiah 17:7 - 8

SEEK – Matthew 6:33

The Samaritan Leper

Luke 17:11 - 19

Identifying Real Faith - Hallmark #5 Controversial

Faith rarely makes conventional senseThe basis of this is the fact that the raw material that is processed into faith is God’s word. Hence the actions based on it have the same characteristic.

Romans 10:9 – 17 (17) / Isaiah 55:8 – 11 (8)

Nobody expected a response like these:

Samaritans hated the Israelis’

It is not recorded that the roof was mended

Mary was a known sinner

The Centurion was conqueror not friend

Jesus said as much to the Canaanite woman

The Woman who washed Jesus Feet ( i.e. Mary - John 11:2)

The famous Alabaster box

Luke 7:347 – 50 (Matthew 26:7-13 Mark 14:3 – 11)

Identifying Real Faith - Hallmark #6 Infallible

Faith holds within it the inability to fail. This is because of what it comes from and from whom it comes from.

Ephesians 2:8, Romans 12:3 ; Isaiah 14:24 , 44:24- 26This is made clear in the Amplified Bible© : Jeremiah 1:12 “Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it.”

Faith is always a reality in the invisible before it shows up in the physical. Each person believed that it was done before they could see it.

Hebrews 11:1; Romans 4:16 – 22; 2 Kings 4:8- 37 (26)

The Centurion

Matthew 8:5 – 13 / Luke 7:1 - 10

Using Real Faith - Step #2 DO WHAT YOU BELIEVE

Make a definite demand on the ability of God because

it is already granted in Christ Jesus

Page 13: Fully Functional Faith

This has a twofold effect:

Somebody else’s faith is built up

Your faith is built up so you can confront the next challenge
