Fuel Tank Sealer

Stops Rust, Corrosion & Leaks

Product Description

POR-15 Fuel Tank Sealer is a high-tech sealer impervious to all fuels, including the new Stage II fuels which have a higher alcohol content. It has superior strength and fuel resistance.

Application Information

Drain all fuel from tank, remove tank from vehicle, and clean out tank. All fuel tanks are dirty and have to be cleaned out before sealing. DO NOT MIX THIS SEALER WITH ANY FUELS. If you try to seal a tank without cleaning it first, the new coating will fail, because Tank Sealer won’t stick to gum and varnish. Mix 1 part of POR-15® Cleaner Degreaser with 1 part of hot water and pour into tank. Gloves and eye protection should be worn at all times. Roll the tank around, then place in different position every 2 hours so the solution can cover all inside surfaces. Repeat this step until solution comes out clean then rinse tank thoroughly with water 2 or 3 times to remove all the cleaner then permit to dry. Next pour in full container of POR-15® Metal Prep and roll the tank around, then place the tank in different positions every half hour until the entire inside of the tank has been treated with POR-15® Metal Prep. Then rinse the tank thoroughly with hot water several times, then drain and dry completely with a hair dryer or heat gun. Tank must be bone dry before you can use Fuel Tank Sealer. Remove valves, petcocks, floats, feed lines, filters, and other mechanisms. Sealer will clog narrow feed lines if they are not sealed off. If lines get clogged, they can be cleared with a wire or coat hanger before sealer is dry. Plug all open holes with duct tape, cork, or rubber stopper except main filler hole. Tank must be completely dry inside. Ideal working temperature is 72°F. STIR WELL BEFORE USING. Pour entire contents of Tank Sealer into tank, cover fill hole, then slowly rotate tank back and forth, side to side, and upside down to cover all surface and seams. Then drain for at least 30 minutes to ensure that Tank Sealer has not puddled in tank. Allow 96 hours for drying. Air-dry tank in well ventilated area, drying time can be improved by using a low pressure blower or hair dryer (low or no heat) and circulating it through one hole in tank and out another. DO NOT REUSE SEALER. Let remnant drained sealer dry out in open can, then discard in accordance with local regulations.
