Installation instructions for front fork spacers, XT660X/R all years.
The sizes are 30mm in length, width is 38mm & inside diameter is 20mm
1/ Raise the front wheel off the ground slightly, it helps when fitting the spacers.
2/ Remove chin guard. Turn the bars full to the right.
3/ Remove the silver caps. Check the height position of the bars before removing, there is a level gauge on the front of
the bars.
4/ Cover tank, remove 4 Allen key bolts & lay the handle bars on the tank.
5/ Undo both 10mm spanner size triple clamp bolts, just need to loosen them not remove them.
6/ Using a 22mm socket & a short extension, remove the left
top fork cap, keep a little pressure on the cap as it may spring up as you reach the end of the threads, be ready.
7/ Fit one spacer between the fork spring washer & the 22mm fork cap.
8/ Refit the 22mm cap back into the fork tube, BEING VERY CAREFUL NOT TO CROSS THREAD THE CAP. Feeling the first couple of threads in carefully, if it starts to get tight DON'T FORCE it, undo it & start again. Just nip up the 22mm cap nut, tighten the two 10mm triple clamp bolts. Now turn the wheel to the left while holding the bars up. Repeat the procedure on the right fork.
If you find your front end to high after the spacers have been fitted, you can slip the forks through the fork bridges by 10mm to lower the front end.
Disclaimer: Any mod undertaken, are carried out at the owners risk.
