Dear Parents,
PBIS IN THE HOME:
During the month of March, Rip-pleside Elementary will be focus-ing on Anger Management skills. The PBIS team at Rippleside Ele-mentary recommends teaching your child how to respond appro-priately when someone becomes mad.
SCHOOL EVENTS:
Our Family Fun Night is on March 2nd from 4:45—6:05 with a free meal of sub sandwiches, chips, a cookie and water at 4:45—5:15 followed by various reading events, including:
Book Swap
Book BINGO
Live skits
Green Screen Photography Session
On February 19th we had a presentation titled “Be the Nice Kid” for our kindergarten through 6th grade students pre-sented by Bryan Skavnak. Through his heartfelt and some-times goofy stories, Bryan blends humor and inspiration to teach you how to Be the Nice Kid. As an inspiring speaker and writer, Bryan has helped thousands of kids (and their parents and teachers) achieve their dream of being happier and more confi-
dent by revealing how to sur-round themselves with a team of good people. We felt so honored to be able to watch this presenta-tion and appreciate his time to come to Rippleside.
PBIS ON OUR PHONES:
Parents, I want to remind you of the importance of knowing how your child is communicating on their iPhone, iPod or iPad. The Aitkin County Child Abuse Pre-vention Council notes this: “Bullies are nothing new. But Internet accessibility has given bullying a new twist. Cyberbul-lies do such things as:
Send insulting messages and threats
Spread rumors
Post embarrassing photos
Share someone’s secrets online
Exclude someone from an online group
Please be part of your child’s “communication life”. It is very important to help guide our stu-dents to appropriate and kind communication. Many times, children send comments that they normally would never say
to another person’s face. We need to continue to build re-spectful and responsible citizens of Aitkin. Please be a team member with your child with the “mobile world” of technolo-gy.
Sincerely,
Andrew G. Dokken
Rippleside Elementary Principal

From March 9th—March 20th, our Ripple-
side Elementary students will be competing
against students from Crosby-Ironton High
School in a food drive challenge. Rippleside
held a highly successful food drive last year,
but the advisors thought it would be fun to
turn it into a rivalry challenge. Our very own
Rippleside Student Council has challenged
the Crosby-Ironton High School Student
Council to a pound for pound challenge and
they have graciously accepted with the goal of
raising donations for our respective commu-
nity food shelves. Students are asked to bring
in boxed or canned foods to Rippleside be-
tween March 9th—March 20th. There will be
two weigh in dates before the food is deliv-
ered to the food shelf at First Lutheran
Church. As part of the rivalry challenge, the
advisors of the team that collects the fewest
pounds of food will be turned into a human
sundae. If Rippleside collects 1,100 pounds of
food, student council members will be al-
lowed to shave Mr. Joshua Smith’s head. A

3/16—Comfy Monday
3/17—Twin Tuesday

Dance for Hunger—2nd Annual!

2nd Annual Dance for Hunger, which will
take place on March 20th for Rippleside
5th and 6th graders. The dance will be held
in the Rippleside Cafeteria from 6:00—8:30
and entry to the dance will be two food
items. Aitkin Grad Blast will be selling con-
cessions for students throughout the dance.

Custodian, Bus Driver, Secre-tary, etc) of Rippleside that they think has done an exceptional job. This month the Golden Gobbler is Daryl Smith!Congratulations!

AITKIN PUBLIC SCHOOLS
This would be a good place to insert a short paragraph about your organization. It
might include the purpose of the organization, its mission, founding date, and a brief
history. You could also include a brief list of the types of products, services, or
programs your organization offers, the geographic area covered (for example, western
U.S. or European markets), and a profile of the types of customers or members served.
It would also be useful to include a contact name for readers who want more
information about the organization.
