From the Principal...Dear Patterson Families, Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful winter break and were able to spend quality time with friends and family . We at Patterson are excited to welcome everyone back for more learning and growth in 2012 .

We will begin the New Year by assessing our students’ progress toward academic goals . Our Curriculum Based Measurements begin the second week back and will give us a snap shot of how our students are currently performing . For students who are not performing where we would like them to be by this mid point in the school year, we have a myriad of interventions available to help get them and keep them on track . For those students that are performing well ahead of our expectations, teachers are equipped to differ-entiate activities to keep them challenged as well . We aim to help every child learn to the best of their ability . There is an opportunity to have a mid-year conference with teachers on February 21 if there are any concerns . Classroom teachers will contact you if they feel a conference is necessary .

The first semester ends January12, 2012 . For those that find it tough to come back to school after winter break, we have a mid-school year break January 13 (Teacher work day) through Jan 16, which is Martin Luther King Day . Grades will be finalized that week and report cards sent home on the following Friday .

It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the mid-point in the school year . It is time to assess where our students are in relation to their goals, and how together, we can continue to help them learn and grow to the best of their ability . Thank you to all of you for supporting Patterson students at home and/or by volunteering in various ways at school . Our partnership helps create an even better educational environment for all students . We look forward to a great second half of the year . Happy New Year!
