Kindergarten Enrolments 2019 This is a reminder that kindergarten enrolments for 2019 are now open. The enrolment form can be accessed from the Mount Pleasant website or the front office. If you know of anyone who may not have children at this school at present, please let them know that Kindergarten enrolments are open
Talk soon. Talk often. This resource is a guide for parents to talk to their children about sex. It is a great publication from HealthyWA and is available from the front office or available from this website http://healthywa.wa.gov.au. There are many other excellent publications
Kiss and Drop Zone Thank you to all the parents that have made an effort to improve the situation at the Kiss and Drop area. There has been a noticeable improvement and we really appreciate it. That said, I find it somewhat incredulous that a few parents argue with or in fact verbally abuse our staff who monitor this area. We monitor this area for the safety of our students. Thank you again to parents who are abiding by the rules.
The Mandjar (Meeting Place) Garden
The Winter planting cycle has begun at the Mandjar Garden with each classroom responsible for a garden bed. Last week the students planted tomatoes, capsicum, beans and various herbs. A huge thank you to Les Brown for assisting the students with the planting and delivering the plants and manure. Thank you also to Mrs Cull who co-ordinates this program. The focus with the Mandjar Garden is to demonstrate the link to students from garden to kitchen to mouth. A big thank you also goes out to the parents who volunteered their time to turn over the beds and assist the children with planting.
Easter Tuesday Please note that Tuesday, 3 April 2018 is a Government holiday. The school will not be open on this day.

Harmony Day 2018 What a gorgeous sight we had in the undercover area on Harmony Day. A sea of orange intermixed with dazzling outfits representing different family heritages within our school. How fantastic we have this opportunity to explore cultural diversity and celebrate that Everyone Belongs. Amongst the many other activities going on in classrooms over the day, we created a giant orange friendship chain at recess and each classroom joined their buddy class for a cultural lunch. Thank you to all staff and families for your efforts making Harmony Day such a fun and community-building event. Wendy (School Chaplain)

COMMUNITY NEWS
Do you know any budding string performers? String Beans, a community orchestra, is looking for some primary school string players—violin, viola, cello. This group is a lovely, positive musical ensemble, led by a fantastic, encouraging conductor. No auditions required. Players need to read music and have played for a few years—they are welcome to come and try before committing. String Beans rehears at North Fremantle Bowls Club on a Thursday afternoon. If you might be interested, please get in touch—the website with contacts and further information is above.
SCHOOL BANKING
We are still looking for volunteers for school banking, the students really enjoy participating in the Commonwealth Bank School Banking Program and to keep this program running we need your help. The program requires a volunteer School Banking Co-ordinator to facilitate the banking and distribution of School Banking rewards. This only takes a small amount of your time, one day a week 8.15 to 9 am., Thursday and the Commonwealth Bank and existing volun-teer will provide support on how to run the program. Your help with the program will greatly benefit students as they develop vital saving skills and also help our school with fundraising. If you are interested in volunteering for this great program, please come see us Thursday morning or email [email protected].
