Club membership opens many doors to new adventures. I
received an e-mail recently from a Michael Hunt from
Bournemouth, England located Southwest of London. His
story is fascina"ng and his quest to discover the heritage
of his 1968 MGC has led him to Tucson, AZ., far from its
birthplace in Abingdon-on-Thames. The car was returned
to the UK for full restora"on from California in 2011 with
a full conversion to right hand drive. Michael has owned
the MGC for the past 5 years. It was shipped to Virginia in
December 1968 and is known to have been in Fairfield, CA and Tucson. Inquiries to Virginia,
California and Arizona DMV have been fruitless. He even went through the MG Experience.
The last known owner was a Mr. Rosado Rodriquez who at that "me lived in Tucson (Rita
Ranch area) and was most likely in the USAF. Michael stated that if Mr. Rodriquez is s"ll in the
area, he would be pleased to know that his car is alive and well and being cherished back in
its home country. I suggested he contact the “Tucson Bri"sh Car Register” which represents
all Bri"sh cars in the Tucson area. If you have any other sugges"ons for Michael that could
help find the Tucson connec"on, e-mail him at michaelandchris"[email protected] . Mi-
chael and his wife will be visi"ng Phoenix in August. I hope we have "me to meet. I am curi-
ous if he is any closer to his quest.

What have you done with young people and your MG lately?
On Tuesday, May 16, 2017, I took my MG MagneBe to Desert Sands Middle School where I taught for many years be-
fore re"ring. The advanced art class was assigned to sketch my MG. I was lucky enough to be given a sketch from one
of the students. We talked about the car and I showed them some small details like the never lost gas cap and the all
wood dash. I even brought the shop manual so they could see all the hand drawn sketches in the book.
When I leM for home school was leKng out. Many of the students waved at me, recognizing the car as I have driven it
to school a few "mes while subs"tu"ng these last few years. It was a really fun event. Maybe next year some of you
can join me with your MG’s for the advanced art students to sketch. Let me know if you are interested in par"cipa"ng.
It is important to for us to expose our cars to the young people.

Technical Session at Delta Motorsports By Dave Boyer
It was a beau"ful morning – Saturday May 20th, 2017 for a technical ses-
sion at Delta Motorsports in Phoenix. All the buildings look alike and the
business sign is easy to miss. But once inside you will no"ce a top notch
professional Bri"sh car service center. The owner, Mike D’Olimpio, treat-
ed our members to coffee and bagels. AMer an introduc"on about his
business and the Bri"sh Marques that he services, Mike offered to con-
duct a complimentary inspec"on to member’s cars on his liM. I don’t know
about you, but I am always crawling on my back to inspect and service my
cars. This was a treat for several members to look at the under carriage
standing up. Several members volunteered for the inspec"on with Dan
Cook (MGA) and John Snider (MGB roadster) selected. A very nice yellow MGB GT was on the liM in the process of being restored.
It was a good opportunity to inspect this car with only the suspension and drive train installed.
Once the MGB was moved out of the way the fun began. Mike’s assistant provided an evalua"on and topped off fluids as neces-
sary. Ken and Ginny Mar"n also brought their MGB GT into the garage as well. Everyone admired the quality of restora"on. It was
interes"ng to compare it to the unfinished GT in terms of all the work s"ll to be done. With both inspec"ons completed, Mike fin-
ished up with a tour of the extensive parts department. I even bought a throBle cable for my MGA since I am transi"oning from a
downdraM Weber back to SUs. All-in-all it was a beneficial technical session with very posi"ve feedback from the aBending mem-
bers. Delta Motorsports is worth considering as a Bri"sh car service provider. For members that missed the tech. session and
would like to see Mike’s shop, call ahead (602-265-8026) and he would be more than happy to show you around. As a standing
offer to all AZMG Club members Mike is offering a 10% discount on parts and labour. ABending the Tech. Session were Dave and
Gretchen Boyer, Richard Miller, George Bean, Dan Cook (MGA), John Snider (MGB), H. Garcia (MGB), Ken and Ginny Mar"n (MGB
GT) and Victor and Evelyn Rodrigues. A morning well spent for members.
