from the CEO

It’s hard to believe that 2016 has flown by already and here I am writing to you once again to wish you all a happy new year and safe holiday season.I would like to share with you my view of what Ettalong Diggers has accomplished in 2016 and where we’ll be headed in 2017.Although 2016 has been a year of change, we have also continued our commitment to supporting the community through continuous innovation and development of our services at Ettalong Diggers. Now, as we look to the year ahead, one fundamental truth will continue to guide us in everything we do: we can never be successful unless our community is. Our commitment to our community must always be foremost in our mind. Everything flows from that. So, in 2017, we’ll continue to be a leader in the club industry. But it’s no longer simply enough to be a leader. We must work harder than ever to transform the business model itself... for our members benefit, as well as for our own.I know “transform” is a lofty goal. But the rapid pace of change in new business models, new platforms and new technologies, and the ever-shifting array of challenges and opportunities they present, demands nothing less. The transformation I envision will be significant because it will require us to do three big things: • broaden the definition of what it means to be a community club; • devote all the necessary resources and new skill sets needed to

help our club to continue to grow and evolve• Finally, to be a formative player in shaping and developing the

modern club of tomorrow – the club of the future. In 2017, in step with our community needs, we’ll be working with all of our partners -- traditional and non-traditional -- to design and, where necessary, re-design business models that will become the foundation for a strong and sustainable future for Ettalong Diggers.I’m excited that we’ll be working together to make 2017 another year of stellar achievement for Ettalong DiggersBut right now, to all of our members and guests, I wish each of you and your loved ones a very happy and peaceful 2017.Although it has been a year of change, we have also continued our commitment to supporting the community through continuous innovation and development of our services at Ettalong Diggers.

W.J (Bill) Jackson Chief Executive Officer

from the Chairman

Happy New Year to you all!I hope you all celebrated the Christmas season and the start of 2017 in good spirits with family and friends. Now that we have started the New Year, it’s good to look ahead and think about what 2017 may bring us. But first, a quick look back.2016 was quite a year for all of us at Ettalong Diggers. We’ve been through many developments and changes, but we’ve also achieved a huge amount. The year ahead will bring its own challenges but I’m sure by working together, keeping focussed on our priorities and putting our customers first we can realise our ambitions. But no matter what the circumstances are, we must not lose sight of our priority: to be a strong and financially sustainable club that puts the community at the heart of everything we do.I would like to thank all our members and guests for your most valued support during the last 12 months. It has been a year of transition and change for the club, it being my fourth year in the role of Chairman.I’m immensely proud of the work that our entire team has been doing to make Ettalong Diggers a force for good in the community, both through our services, entertainment and by making a difference within our community.Together we have reached new heights with our club and delivered the most profitable resultsThe knowledge that we’re doing something great and helping make a difference for others is a powerful reward — one which I hope you feel during the holiday season and throughout the year. There’s nothing else quite like it.Enjoy this time with your friends and loved ones. I could not be more excited about what’s in store for 2017, and for the opportunity to continue to be part of such a wonderful club and community…..exciting and magical times are ahead!

John Wood Chairman

The UK Bee Geez are the most realistic tribute to the Bee Gees that you will ever see or hear.

The UK Bee Geez have gone to great lengths to be certain that not only is the music very accurate, but that they look and act every inch as the Gibb brothers.

Based on their infamous ‘One Night Only’ Las Vegas show, the Bee Geez re-enacts that incredible night and return the glitz and glamour of

Vegas to the stages here in Australia. The members of the UK Bee Geez have worked together since 1990 and have

performed all over the world, including Europe, the U.S.A and Asia. They regularly host sell-out concerts in the U.K. and abroad and have performed

at many of the top international venues and hotels. So prepare yourself to do some ‘Jive Talkin’ and to avoid a ‘Tragedy’ in missing

In OUR Community

The Central Coast Local Health District provides both inpatient and outpatient services to those in our community who have cancer.

Yvonne Crestani began organising fundraising events in honour of her husband Chris Crestani, the former head radiologist at St Vincent’s Hospital, who spent years helping cancer patients before succumbing to cancer in 2006.

Determined to ensure her husband’s legacy lived on, Yvonne has helped talented radiotherapists achieve their goals for more than ten years.

Yvonne has raised thousands for cancer services with her annual fundraising events with proceeds going to the Scholarships in Radiotherapy Studies, to help professionals treating cancer to further their research.

The scholarships were originally awarded to professionals at Royal North Shore Hospital but moved to the Central Coast when the new Cancer Centre at Gosford Hospital was opened in 2013. The prestigious scholarships are now awarded to postgraduates working at the new Central Coast Cancer Centre.

As most Central Coast people know, a small group of volunteers work to raise funds to sponsor Radiotherapists

and other Allied Health Professionals from the Central Coast Cancer (CCCC) to further their studies. This means new and improved treatments in Radiotherapy or Oncology, thus improving the success rates for Central Coast people suffering from Cancer.

Over 1800 people on the Central Coast are diagnosed with cancer each year and a growing population means demand for local cancer services will continue to increase.

All monies raised remain on the coast to benefit the community.

Ettalong Diggers are proud to support this wonderful program. On Sunday 26th February we are providing our venue to present a special Good Afternoon Ettalong event where all ticket sales will go directly to Scholarships in Radiotherapy.

Hosted by Shane Edwards and Anthea J with the Good Morning Ettalong Band and featuring Lucky Starr and Roland Storm (both donating their talents for this concert).

Anyone interested in helping or donating to this wonderful cause can call Yvonne on 0416 241 110.
