Govr. Model Engineering College was established in 1989, under the Institute of Human Resource and

Development (IHRD) by the Government of Kerala. The colJege is affiliated to the Cochin Un iversity of Science

and Technology (CUSAT) and strives to emulate an academic culture that is on a par with the best instirutions in

the country. Within a short span of time, the institution has emerged out with flying colours and has set its mark

in the educational arena .. It has been ranked among top engineering colleges in many surveys conducted by repured

magazines such as Mint and Oudook India. The college has received funding by TEQIP (Technical Education

Quality Improvement Programme), aWorJd Bank initiative. It has witnessed excellent placement statistics over the

years and has outperformed many other top engineering colleges in the country.

The admissions are purely on the basis of merit in Kerala Entrance examination for undergraduate and GATE for

• Conducted in memory of late Sandeep Menon, founder of TI1e illuminati , quiz club of the college.

• The Illuminati has also conducted over 120 intra and imer coUegiate quizzing events since irs inception in 2006.

Technical Workshop Marathon is a JOint endeavour by IEEE Studenr Branch and ASIC, the association of M. Tech VLSI and Embedded Systems students of the college.

• A month long event conducted annually to instil knowledge in core areas of different branches of engineering.

• Main copies usually dealt in under rhe workshops include 8051 , PIC, GNU Octave, Ngspice, FPGA, ASIC Design using VLSI CAD Tools, Linux, uClinux, ARM7 processors and PSoC.

• The college has been a host to numerous technical workshops and seminars conducted by prominent companies like Cypress Semiconductor, Cosmic Circuits, Samsung, Delphi and Bosch.

• Was chosen to host the Nexus workshop conducted by liT Bombay and Robosofr systems in 2011.
