NOLA MOTORSPORTS Competition not only takes place during quarterly sales spiffs or yearly sales goals but also on the race track. This year’s summer sales meeting ended in a friendly competition at NOLA Motorsports in Avondale, LA. With carts speeding up to 50 mph, it’s easy to take a turn that spins you out onto the grass or bump another cart sending them out of control. It’s safe to say that there were no serious injuries (knock on wood) and “1st Place” and “Fastest Lap” are both winners in our book. JULY 2019 From Positivity To Performance Smitty’s Supply 2019 Summer Sales Meeting was a race to the FINISH! Ingredients: SYRUP: 1 cup sugar •1 cup water • 3 Teaspoons dried culinary lavender • 2 Sprigs fresh lavender • LEMONADE: 3 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice •1 3/4 cups water • 1 cup lavender syrup • 1 big handful of fresh mint• lemon slices for garnish • fresh lavender sprigs for garnish Directions: SYRUP: Place the sugar, water and lavender in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk until the sugar dissolves, bringing the mixture to a simmer. Cook for 1 minute. Turn off the heat and set the saucepan aside. Let it cool completely. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove the lavender. Store in a sealed container in the fridge! I like to make this a day or two before and even let the lavender sit in it in the fridge for a day before straining, but it’s not necessary. LEMONADE: In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice, water and simple syrup. Stir well. Taste and adjust the flavor to your like more – if it needs a little more sweetened, add it! More lemon juice or water? Go ahead. I love the ratio above, but it also depends on the sourness of your lemons. Throw a handful of fresh mint leaves into the pitcher and refrigerate for an hour before serving. The Cajun Connection: Your Favore Louisiana Recipes LAVENDER MINT LEMONADE

Welcome To The Family

Smitty’s Supply Date Big 4 Trucking Date

Smitty’s Supply growth over the years, presence throughout our community and across the state of Louisiana is noticed. On Saturday, June 22nd, Governor John Bel Edwards stopped in to greet the employees of Smitty’s Supply and take part in his upcoming campaign commercial. The focus of the commercial is the growth of business and the hardworking people of the State of Louisiana. Smitty’s background story and continued

expansion is a prime example. Our message is one in the same: With hard work and putting the people first , success is inevitable.

A special thanks goes out to our management and employees in plastics, production, and marketing for making this happen. We couldn’t do it without you!

“When you apply for a job, you are applying to build your identity that you can hold a job and accomplish all that is required and more. Therefore, you are going to be a “go-getter” - you strive to do your best, you give all of your abilities and more. When you are asked to do something, do your best. When you get to the point you don’t care to do your job, it’s time for

you to leave. Just remember, when you go to a job, go with the intentions of being a “go-getter” and GIVE IT ALL YOU GOT & MORE!”

DROWNING PREVENTIONFOR THE SUMMER1. TEST AND TEACHHow well does your child swim? Pool safety starts before your child ever gets into the water and understanding your child’s skill level can help you make smart decisions about water safety. You can learn more about your child’s swimming ability by going to your local YMCA to receive a FREE swim assessment. If your child is not a strong swimmer, enroll him or her in swim classes. The YMCA offers swimming lessons for children six months and up.Even children that pass a swim assessment can benefit from additional swim instruction. Learning pool safety rules and how to be a strong swimmer is a great defense against drowning.

2. WATCH AND GUARDActive supervision around a pool is required, not just recommended. Never leave a child alone in or around open water. Any time children are in the pool, designate an adult to be the Water Watcher. This dedicated observer must commit to actively supervising children in the water at all times; not texting, reading, socializing, drinking, etc.Touch supervision is essential for young children and those who can’t swim. A life jacket may be a good idea for those who can’t swim, as well. Plus, it’s a good idea to switch out Water Watchers from time to time to make sure children stay safe in the pool.

3. HAVE THE RIGHT EQUIPMENTProtecting your family around the pool means more than just keeping an eye on swimming kids. It is also important to make sure the pool is a safe place when no one is around and the pool is not in use. Drowning incidents can happen year-round and can be even more dangerous during the winter months when pools are not top of mind. Layers of protection, like a non-climbable fence with a self-locking gate, can keep children who wander off from falling into the pool. Safety covers are also a good idea.

• Our experts recommend you skip the standard arm floaties and instead use a U.S. Coast Guard approved personal flotation device (PFD) for all children who do not know how to swim, and remember to put them back on if they are taken off for any reason.• Kids can climb a chain-link fence. Latching gates should be self-closing and close with latches out of reach of tiny hands.

• Alarms can be installed on doors and gates leading to the pool and underwater pool alarms can warn you if something enters the pool.

• Always keep rescue equipment, like pool noodles, safety rings, rope and a first aid kit, pool side. Plus, always keep access to a phone nearby.

• Cover pools and hot tubs when not in use. Use rigid covers that don’t collect standing water.

• Remove ladders from above ground pools when not in use and store them out of reach.

• 1. Becoming overly confident - These monstrous vehicles take some getting used to, so even though you have the knowledge to operate the truck, you lack the experience to drive like you rule the road• 2. Not asking for help - It’s more professional to clarify something and ask for help than to mess something up because you didn’t want to ask a question.• 3. Listening to advice from everyone - It’s important to ask fellow drivers for advice in these types of situations, but don’t necessarily take to heart all the advice that you get.• 4. Having too high of expectations - Life on the road as a truck driving can be very rewarding, but it isn’t as easy as some rookies think it’s going to be. Being away from home can be hard at times, and battling homesickness while trying to be professional can be challenging.• 5. Not taking safety practices seriously - Even if you’re in a hurry to meet a deadline or trying to avoid certain weather conditions, you should never skip a truck inspection or fail to check load tie-downs.

CAM2 - A RACE HERITAGE

THE BACKSTORYCAM2 motor oil was first developed as a collaborative effort between Sun Oil Company (Sunoco), General Motors and Roger Penske to develop superior performance motor oil that would help Penske Racing in their attempt to win the Indy 500 auto race. In 1975 after they were successful in their efforts to win the Indy 500, Sun Oil Company decided to introduce this premium performance motor oil to the general public as a “do it yourself” motor oil. The highly effective marketing program to introduce the CAM2 brand of motor to the general public involved the promotion and distribution of CAM2 Motor Oils through mass retailers such as Kmart, Sears and other large warehouse distributors, as well as through jobbers and

motor oil distributors nationwide. Between 1975 and 1983, Sun Marketing spent nearly $20M on advertising, promoting and establishing CAM2 as a superb, national brand motor oil. And superb it is!

In 1981, Sun Oil decided to concentrate its efforts solely on production and put CAM2 marketing activities up for sale. Of course, there were many suitors - but the CAM2 brand was eventually purchased by our group of uniquely qualified, successful, and experienced motor oil distributors.

We became the CAM2 Motor Oil Products Company, and established our Corporate Headquarters in Denver, Colorado, USA with marketing offices in Chicago, Illinois, USA and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.

The original idea was to have a nationally recognized brand of premium quality; value priced motor oils that we could control. In this way, our group’s distributors could protect themselves and future CAM2 customers from the self benefiting and often harmful to distributor decisions of the huge oil companies. It was our sincere belief that if the Oil Companies could make decisions to ensure them of a profitable future then we as distributors should be doing the same.

CAM2 Oil Products Company began quite humbly. Our total product line consisted of eight motor oils. But that simple beginning was all we needed to establish the value and the quality of the CAM2 brand and we soon expanded our offering to include hundreds of CAM2 Quality Products from more than 30 suppliers.
