From Drops to Powder – From a Suspension to a GranulateInnovative Processing of Fluids in Fluidised Bed Dryers

Turn suspension and pastes into ...

ALLGAIER fluidised bed dryers are

the solution to even the most

difficult problems in the processing

of liquids for the production of

granulates and powders. Several

processing stages can be combined

into one single process step: - concentration of liquids - shaping by granulation or agglomeration - subsequent drying - classification and dust removal The simple operation of the fluidised bed dryers and their economical pro-duction method offer new possibilities for achieving higher-quality products. Fluidised beds provide ideal conditions for the optimum of head and mass transfer. This results in high energy densities which require only low plant volumes. Fluidised beds have a very uniform temperature profile and are thus also suitable for handling products which are sensible to high temperatures.

With the ALLGAIER fluidised bed

dryers, liquids can be processed to

form granulates or powders.

Typical examples are: - salt solutions

- pigment suspensions

- sodium nitrate solution

- sodium sulfates

- organic acids

- leakage water from garbage dumps

- fertiliser suspensions

- detergent concentrates

- potash solution

- waste water from synthetic resins

- sorbitol

- dextrose and glucose

- ferrites

- cereal slops

- milk and whey

- gelatine

- yeast suspension

- starch slurry

- mixtures of mineral compounds

- liquid manure

- enzyme solution

- flue-gas washing water

- waste water from chemical or pharmaceutical processes

- instant beverages

- animal food mixtures

… high-quality powders or granulates.

Granulation dryers:From fluid to granulate.

During granulation, the fluid con-taining solid materials is injected through nozzles into the fluidised bed, where it comes into contact with the fluidised solid particles. The heat entering the dryer with the drying air vaporises the water or the solvent contained in the fluid, causing the solid material to be deposited on the granulate nuclei. This result in solid grown granulates by layered growth which are often of very good flow-ability. Once the granulates have reached the desired size, they drop through the classification tube and are removed from the dryer.

The ALLGAIER method is characterised by its high stability with respect to variations of the solid concentration in the feed and to variations in the feed capacity. Modern dosing devices permit precise compliance with defined formulas.

The possibility of operating the granula-tion dryer in a closed circuit with super-heated steam or solvent vapour results in a process free of exhaust air which is particularly suitable for the handling of toxic materials or for the treatment of dangerous waste materials. Our fluidised bed dryers can also be used for the continous agglomeration of powders or dusts to form easily soluble instant products such as instant coffee or tea.

We will gladly test the granulation abilities of your new products in our technical testing centre.

Reliable production of defined grain sizes.

Suspension and paste dryers:from fluids to powders.

Suspensions, solutions, difficult pastes or solid filter cakes can be homogenised, dried and converted into powders with suspension and paste dryers.

The feed injected through nozzles dries on the inert particles of the fluidised bed. In the process, the solid material in the liquid is converted reliably into a very fine powder which is carried out of the dryer by the flow of drying air. It is then separated from the air in high-performance filter systems.

Suspensoin and paste dryers are extremely suitable for the processing of:

- catalysts

- metal hydroxide suspensions

- anorganic sludges and waste water

- boron nitride

- carbonate slurry

- salt solutions

- pigment suspensions

- sodium nitrate solution

- mirabilite

- organic acids

- flue-gas washing water

- leakage water from garbage dumps

- ceramic glazing suspensions

Fully automatic plant control.

The high efficiency of the fluidised bed, the optimal utilisation of energy, the clear conception of the plant and the safe process control of the ALLGAIER suspension and paste dryer offers you an opportunity to produce powders with a very economical process. The dryer can be heated with any com-monly used heat transfer medium. The exhaust gas temperatures are normally low, resulting in optimum utilisation of the energy. Simple control concepts permit opera-tion with only a few persons or even fully automated operation.
