Friends and Neighbors Women’s Club
April 2020
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
To our Fantastic FAN members:
The recent COVID-19 pandemic is causing chang-es and new plans to go into effect. That said, there will NOT be an April General Meeting of Friends And Neighbors Women’s Club.
As President, I have met with the Executive Board to discuss all sorts of scenarios, rescheduling, and what ifs. The well-being of our members is our number 1 priority. We will get through this and move forward together.
Please continue to check your emails and FAN’s Facebook and Web site for updates. Check on your FAN sisters and use the Directory to call or email.
Easter brings promise and hope of good news and so will our next issue of FANfare.
Jennifer Banks, President
FAN
Our April general meeting has been cancelled.
Faithbridge has cancelled all meetings until further notice.
The State of Texas and CDC guidelines, which call for meetings to be limited to
10 people, are being followed.
INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS
Because we are unable to have our April General Meeting, we will be approving the new slate of officers via email. Please keep an eye out for an email that will be sent to all FAN members ask-ing for their approval of the new board.
The Nominating Committee has recommended
the following slate of officers for the upcoming
year, as no additional nominations were of-
fered. These ladies were presented to the mem-
bership at the March General Meeting.
I would like to thank the Nominating Committee for their service and time. They have nominated a great group of women to lead FAN in the up-coming year:
President Jennifer Banks
1St VP – Programs Mary Jo Butler
2nd VP – Membership Kathy Court
Secretary Sandy Guilbeau
Treasurer Emma Rice
Auditor Jacquie Stamates
Newsletter Sherry Dunn
Historian Linda Comeaux
Advisor Sue Behnke
These officers would have been voted upon and installed at the April General Membership meet-ing.
Sue Behnke, Chair, Nominating Committee

“Wine, Women and Song” a fine FAN finale
No matter how you say “cheers,” a toast to friends and family means “All the best!” And you’ll enjoy “all the
best" at FAN’s Spring Luncheon at Wild Stallion Vineyards near The Woodlands.
A tasty luncheon, yummy dessert, a glass of sangria or wine and a relaxing day in the country await
you. Gather your “posse” of pals and reserve a table of 10. Or sign up on your own and perhaps find new
friends with whom to share a sip or two. It’s “Wine, Women and Song,” an ideal way to celebrate spring and
friendship.
Win a prize singing Karaoke or playing “Name That Tune.” Buy a few raffle tickets and, if your num-
ber is drawn, select the gift-wrapped prize of your choice! Stroll out to the gazebo where you’ll find a lovely
setting for photos, selfies and groupies alike!
Peek at the grapevines planted in neat rows near the building; are tiny grapes growing already? The
doors will swing wide open at 11:00 a.m. so, if you arrive early, stroll the charming grounds.
At “Wine, Women and Song,” you’ll enjoy friendship, fun, fine food and fine wine, all for $35.00.
Find a reservation form on page 3 or download it from the FAN Web site.
Reservation and refund deadline is April 24, so if the coronavirus is on your mind, remember that is
weeks away and the health situation is likely to peak and subside by then. When the deadline comes, if you
are concerned, you can request and receive a refund.

Reservation checks “on hold”
The FAN Board agreed at its March 17 meeting to take a “wait and see” approach to holding
or postponing Wine Women and Song, our May 5 end-of-year luncheon.
Reservations are being accepted (see page 3) and checks will be held until later in April
when a decision can be made given the then-current situation related to COVID 19 and its
effect on social gatherings. Should the date of the event change, checks can be shredded or
retained if the new date suits your schedule.
Stay tuned for more information as the situation becomes more clear.

We are following the State of Texas and the CDC protocol which calls for not more than 10 people to gather in a group.
Please keep this in mind when planning group activities.
Charity Report
It was wonderful to present Gary and Nikki Akin of Sleep in Heavenly Peace the check for $8,350.00 at the March meeting. That is the amount that YOU raised! Thank you for the support that you showed for this charity.
Now it is time to select a charity for this year. The Board-approved charities will be voted on at a date to be determined. Come, Listen, Vote!

FAN Nature Walkers
Come and join the FAN nature walkers for exercise, fresh air and new
friends. Some of the areas we frequent are the Spring Creek Greenway,
Mercer Arboretum, Burroughs Park, Meyers Park, Kickerillo-Mischer
Preserve, Dennis Johnson Park and 100-Acre Wood Preserve. We are
outdoors from 1½ to 2 hours. We walk on dirt trails, thru pine forests
and along creeks at a reasonable pace. You will have opportunities to
observe the many flora and fauna that you don't see in your backyard.
Our walks are scheduled about twice a month and are dependent on
weather and group participation. An email is sent to the group with a
choice of dates for the hike. If you will contact me at jcweb-
[email protected], I will add you to the FAN nature walkers list.
Hope to see you on the trail.
