ALL Temple Shalom members are encouraged to attend. THURSDAY, NOV. 16, 12:30 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. at CCU’S CAMPUS at 17 BYPASS and 79 AVE. N . As part of CCU’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, I will be giving a lecture on the philosophical under- pinnings of Jewish beliefs, practices and traditions to be followed by a question and answer period. No tickets and no reservations required. WEDNESDAY, NOV. 22, 7:00 P.M., at TEMPLE SHALOM Joint Thanksgiving Eve Program with All Souls Waccamaw Unitarian Universalist Fellowiship. This will be the third such annual event. The first one was held at Temple Shalom in 2015, the second at ASWUU’s facility last year and now the third one is again being hosted by Temple Shalom. This has been a very well-attended, spiritually uplifting event. TEMPLE SHALOM MEMBERS ATTENDING ARE ASKED TO BRING CAKE, COOKIES, FRUIT, APPETIZERS, DIPS OR ANYTHING ELSE YOUR HEART DESIRES (NO MEAT DISHES) FOR THE RECEPTION FOLLOWING THE SERVICE. This is a really enjoyable event. Don’t miss it. WEDNESDAY, NOV. 29, 7:30 P.M., at TEMPLE SHALOM Adult Ed. class. Those attending will be given an opportunity to ask about or bring up for an open-ended discussion any topics relating to Judaism that interest them. There will be ample opportunity for input by those attending the class. TUESDAY, DEC. 12, 5:30 P.M., at VALOR PARK in MARKET COMMONS I will light the giant me- norah on the first night of Chanukah followed by Chanukah songs. Jim Hammer, the property manager of Market Commons, remarked to me that every year the crowds get bigger at this event. Let’s make this the best attended event ever. Looking forward to seeing you at these events. Sisterhood News

The summer is over, the High Holiday season has just ended and we are looking forward to Thanks-

giving and the last few months of the 2017. I hope you all had a good High Holiday season with your

family and friends. Yom Kippur ended with a very successful and absolutely delicious Break the Fast,

thanks to the extraordinary efforts of Natalie Kramer and Irene Klein. I would also like to thank eve-

ryone who so graciously cooked and baked to donate their scrumptious dishes to this event. In addi-

tion, I would like to thank all those who helped set up, serve and clean up afterwards. We could not

have done this without everyone's help. All those who attended enjoyed the great food and the fellow-

ship of their Temple family. If you were unable to attend, we hope you will join us next year!

We also had 3 other very successful fundraising events this year. You all should have received our

beautiful New Year’s card this year. I hope that more of you will consider putting your name on this

card to send warm High Holiday greetings to your Temple family next year. It is a simple way to wish

everyone a Happy New Year and support the Temple and Sisterhood at the same time. Special thanks

to Cookie Brenner and Bobbie Guseman for their hard work in coordinating the Challah/Honey Cake

Sale and the Sale of Attraction Books. We are almost sold out of the boxes we ordered to break last

year’s record. Sisterhood is continuing to sell the remaining 12 Attractions Books for $20.00 each.

They are available at the Temple or by contacting Cookie Brenner or me. We have only 12 books left,

which we are trying to sell by the end of November. If we sell all of them, we will make a larger profit

from all books sold. These books make great gifts for Chanukah or any other occasion. If you haven't

already purchased one, please do so. If you have already bought one, please consider buying another

one as a gift or for your own use. If you use coupons from it twice, you have more than made your

money back, in addition to supporting Sisterhood and the Temple. LET’S MAKE THIS HAPPEN!

Please join us on November 10th at 7:30 pm, for Sisterhood Shabbat, when the Sisterhood will be con-

ducting the Friday night service. We will also be sponsoring the oneg following the service. If you

want a part (English or Hebrew) and have not yet signed up yet, please email Wendy Margulies and

let her know. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend.

Several other programs and events are currently being planned for the remainder of the year. Chanu-

kah is coming earlier this year, so look for more info to come about Hanukkah Happenings, sched-

uled for Sunday, December 17, 2017. We will light our menorahs, eat latkes, enjoy songs and games

and win prizes as we celebrate Chanukah. Make sure you join us for this fun-filled event!

Sisterhood Announcements

1. COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT – As an ongoing social action project, Sisterhood is continuing to support homeless youth in the greater Myrtle Beach area. Hope House in Myrtle Beach and Sea Haven in North Myrtle Beach are just two of these shelters. These children are as-sisted with temporary housing, doctor appointments, food, clothing, etc. They must be pursuing a diploma. On an ongoing basis, we will be collecting donations of food and snacks, toiletries, new socks and underwear, clothing, school supplies…really anything a teenager could use. They also can use small denomination gift cards for Walmart and fast food restaurants. Any time you come to the Temple, please bring your donations for this worthy cause. You may leave your donations in the room located on the left side near the main entrance of the Temple. 2. ATTRACTIONS BOOKS – There are only 12 books left to sell to meet our goal of 100 books sold. They are currently available and will be available until the end of November. Cost is $20.00 per book and must be paid at time of purchase or in advance by check. Books are available at the Temple. You can also contact me or Cookie Brenner to purchase them. 3. TRIBUTE CARDS - Tribute Cards are the gift that keeps on giving! Tribute Cards simply take the place of greeting cards while investing in your own Temple and the Jewish community. With the purchase of one or more Tribute Cards, there is no trip to the store or wrapping of gifts. It is an ongo-ing fundraiser that will greatly benefit all of us at Temple Shalom! 4. RADA KNIVES - These knives make great hostess gifts for the holidays as well as other occa-sions! Consider buying them for Chanukah and other holiday gifts! Sisterhood receives 40% of every order! We will accept orders every month, until the 20

th of the month. Anything ordered after that will

be included in the next order. Please add a $1 shipping charge per order to cover Sisterhood ship-ping expenses. There are catalogues at the Temple for your convenience. For more information or to order, please call Wendy Margulies at 843-399-3106. Thank you for your continuing support of this fundraiser.

PLEASE MAKE YOUR CHECKS PAYABLE TO: TEMPLE SHALOM SISTERHOOD, FOR EACH OF THESE FUNDRAISERS

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF SISTERHOOD & TEMPLE SHALOM!
