FRIDAY, MAY 10, 2013 (PAGE 14) DAILY EXCELSIOR, JAMMU Inter-School T ournament s Jodhamal, KC Intl claim football titles Excelsior Sports Correspondent JAMMU, May 9: Scripting resounding victories over their rivals in the finals, Jodhamal School Jammu and KC International School claimed the title trophies in football Under-14 and Under-17 boys tournament, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at GGM Science College Football Ground, here today. Jodhamal School defeated Heritage School by three goals to two (3-2) in the final to claim the football Under-14 boys tro- phy. Rohan Gupta, Himanshu Sharma and Aayush scored one goal each for Jodhamal, while for Heritage, Amitabh Koushal and Aryan Sethi were the goal scorers. Earlier, in the semifinals Jodhamal defeated MHAC Nagbani by the same margin. In another semifinal, Heritage School got better of title Tots by three goals to two. In football Under-17 boys, KC International defeated its rival by two goals to nil (2-0), with Vikram scoring both goals. Meanwhile, at Jammu zone, the competitions in kho-kho, kabaddi and volleyball were held under the supervision of Kiran Jyoti, zonal physical edu- cation officer, while Principal Kamla Kumari was the chief guest on the occasion. SOS, DPS and HS Kachi Chawni emerged winners in kho-kho, kabaddi and volleyball events respectively. At Marh zone, the competi- tions were held under the super- vision of zonal physical educa- tion officer, Marh, Chanchal Kour at Government Higher Secondary School Domana. GHS Shamachak defeated HS Marh Bagh in kho-kho Under-17 girls final, while in kho-kho Under-14 girls title clash, GHS Sangrampur defeat- ed GHS Shamachak by 5 points. In kabaddi Under-17 girls, GHS Gou Manasan drubbed HS Sangrampur by 18 points, while in kabaddi Under-14 girls, GGMS Akalpur outplayed GGHS Gole Gujral by 2 points. The matches were officiated by Pritipal Singh, Tilak Raj, Ravi Kumar, Jai Singh, Jai Krishan Pandita, Pritam Lal, Jatin Sethi and Ajeet Singh. At Gandhi Nagar zone, the matches were held under the supervision of Jeet Singh, zonal physical education officer, Gandhi Nagar, while Sroman Dogra, zonal physical education officer, Satwari was the chief guest on the occasion. Kho-kho Under-14 and Under-17 events were held which were officiated by Satvinder Kour, Ram Murti, Dalbir Kour, Ashnak Raj, Jasbir Singh, Chamel Singh and oth- ers. At Miran Sahib zone, the tournament held under the supervision of Sarita Pandha, ZPEO Miran Sahib concluded today. Government High School Badyal Brahmana won kabaddi Under-14 and Under-17 titles, while Adarsh Niketan Badyal Brahamana claimed Under-17 volleyball title. DYSSO, Jammu, Tirath Ram was the chief guest on the occasion. Divisional Traffic Manager, Northern Railway Jammu, R. N Meena was the chief guest on the occasion while Deputy Director Information, Dr Narupa Rai was the guest of honour. The function was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (KVS JR) A S Gill while senior army officers, VMC members, Principals of KVs and Principals of other schools were also pres- ent. HSS Pouni organizes National Environment Awareness Campaign Excelsior Sports Correspondent REASI, May 9: National Environment Awareness Campaign 2013 was organised by Government Higher Secondary School Pouni on the theme 'Biodiversity Conservation', here today. A huge rally was taken out by the students and staff of the School which was flagged off by the Principal Jagdish Raj Sharma in the presence of prominent citizens, elected rep- resentatives and SHO Pouni Pushpinder Singh.
