It’s my pleasure to announce that chapter 2 has surpassed the goal of $1700.00 and raised $1985.00 in member donations, matched by $1700.00 in chapter funds for a grand total of $3685.00! The funds for the feasibility study have been raised, this means that the museum has reached another important milestone on it’s path to reality. I’m deeply grateful for our member’s outpouring of generosity and rapid response to this call. We allotted 30 days and it didn't even take seven. Young Eagles

Some of you have already completed the Youth Protection Policy for the coming three years. If you have not

sent your approval email to me, please do so.

As a reminder, three years ago, EAA announced that all Young Eagle pilots and some ground personnel

needed to complete their Youth Protection Policy and Protection training. Many of us completed this in early

2016 and it was good for three years. EAA should send you a reminder email that your expiration date is

approaching. You can either wait until your expiration date to complete the training or complete it when you

receive your email. If you do it prior to your expiration date, it will reset your expiration date to three years

from the date completed. It will not use your original expiration date.

Be sure to check our website for this year’s Young Eagle rally dates. We have only three rallies scheduled at

SMD this year. Hope to see many of you there.

Homebuilt Corner - Keeping your Tablet Computer Cool During Flying

Who could have imagined that a powerful computer the size of paper tablet would be the

preferred flying tool for most pilots in the early 21st century? To seasoned and new pilots

alike, flying with a tablet computer is truly amazing. The GPS calculates your position and

affordable software shows you a moving map to your destination.
