Motupipi School Cross Country We had a great day for our school cross country with the children all putting in a lot of effort. It

was awesome to see and hear the support they gave each other as they

finished.

Thanks go to Tania and David Hurst for letting us use their farm as a

training ground and for putting in the hay obstacles for the juniors course,

as well as dropping fences for the senior runners. We really appreciate

your support.

Thanks also to all those who helped out the fundraising committee with

preparing, cooking and selling lunches.

“I thoroughly enjoyed meeting many of the children’s grandparents and families and talking Rugby and hunting over the BBQ with Dean and Doug!”

By Mr Cullen

“My dad took lots of photos of my friends in the cross country and I made a powerpoint presentation to show the class. It was great my dad and sister came to cheer me on.” By Trinity

“It was a challenge because it was a long way. I was trying hard to beat my friend Harriet. I tried to jump the stream but I slipped and one foot got soaked.” By Penny

“I liked going through the tunnel. I had to spread my legs to the sides so I didn’t get wet.” By Jay

““This was my first ever cross country and it was fun. I managed to jump the stream without getting wet.” By Noah

“My favourite bit was climbing up the hay bales and jumping down.” By Gypsy

NZ Playhouse Theatre Presents! Tomorrow, Friday at 9.20am in the Motupipi Hall, the NZ Playhouse Theatre will present a play called ‘Phone a Friend,

which all the school will attend. We will leave for the cross country at Collingwood after the show.

The show is about a boy called Winston, who is nervous about starting a new school after moving from another town

when his very 'over the top' but oh-so-caring parents surprise him with a gift - a mobile phone!

Winston is horrified when he is presented, not with a shiny new gadget, but a ginormous brick phone from the 80s that

runs out of battery every 20 minutes - and doesn't even surf the web!

When this new item causes him to become the joke of the school gadget gang, Winston tries to discard it in the woods,

only to discover his phone has a life of its own!
