SIMÎARY FOR 1976

This is the ninth issue of an annual suimnary covering wholesale prices on the Atlanta produce market. This summary is compiled from daily market reports issued by the Federal-State Market News Service at Forest Park, Georgia♦ Prices are shown mostly for commodities that are regularly offered for sale throughout the year, or offered in sufficient volume to be of importance on the market during most of t'e calendar year« Where definite grades are not indicated, quotations are for stock of generally good quality and condition. Price ranges cover sales made by original receivers in less than carlot quantities. Exceptional, fair and ordinary quality quotations are omitted, unless so indicated. Sales are listed for Wednesday of each week. In a few instances, where there are no offerings on Wednesday, quotations are shown for the nearest day of the same week. Owing to tKe wide range in prices for various grades of quality, condition and sizes for some commodities throughout the calendar year, an attempt lias been made to show only the price range for certain desirable sizes and most common or popular varieties and grades. Other varieties, grades and sizes have been omitted. An average V7eig'ited price for each commodity tabulated in this summary, is not available due in many instances to the wide variance of quality, sizes, varieties, containers, etc.

These price data, wiien combined with a report of Atlanta unloads and truck receipts for 1976 would give a fairly good picture of price and supply conditions on t' e Atlanta market during the year. The Atlanta unloads for 1976 are contained in the ÜSDA bulletin on Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Unloads Áí4S-6(1976) published by the United Stated Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing Service, Fruit 6c Vegetable Div,, Market News Branch, Was'iington, D. C, 20250,
