Is this the right practice for me? We treat all age groups with all different needs from full cosmetic work to the smallest filling. You and your family are always made to feel at home, where our focus is on involving you in the process of planning your treatment. With 45 years experience helping Manly feel comfortable in the dentist’s chair, we consider ourselves experts in helping nervous patients. How are you different to other practices? It is important to feel comfortable and trust the people who are looking after you. This is exactly what we pride ourselves on. We get to know you and your needs. We spend time with you showing you the best way to care for your own dental health. We pride ourselves on making you part of the experience by showing you options and helping you to learn about your dental health. I feel anxious when I go to see the dentist. What can help me feel better? If you are anxious please tell us of your concerns. Communication is the key and various forms of anesthesia as well as relaxation techniques can be used to improve your experience. We want you to feel comfortable with our team so we can come up with the best way to help you feel more relaxed and assured. When should my child first see a dentist? Early visits can prevent small problems from becoming big ones. Ideally, six months after the first tooth erupts is the perfect time for a first appointment. This gives your child the opportunity to become familiar and comfortable with being at the dentist. We will carefully examine the development of the mouth and can detect any signs of early decay. Also good habits are taught that last for life and ensure your child starts off with positive dental experiences. Why do I need x-rays? An x-ray (radiograph) is a diagnostic tool that helps us pinpoint problems that may not be seen in a visual examination. We use them to assess the condition of your teeth, the roots of the teeth, bone heights, and jaw placement. The x-rays also help us screen any abnormal features and show if there are any impacted teeth that need attention. They are critical to the diagnosis of decay, gum and mouth diseases and key to providing a more accurate individual treatment plan. How often should I visit the dentist? We believe in the importance of prevention. It does not take long for a small problem to become a big issue, so we encourage all our patients to be proactive and have routine dental visits. So it is recommended that you come in for an examination and professional teeth cleaning every 6 months. This allows us to assess the mouth and teeth for any signs of decay or abnormal features What is an oral health therapist and hygienist? Oral health therapists and hygienists are university trained professionals who are specialised in preventative dentistry. They work closely with the dentist to provide a wide range of dental care in a variety of settings. They also promote oral health and prevention through dental education to individuals and groups within the broader community, motivating individuals to form good habits for oral health. Having these professionals as part of our team reinforces our commitment towards prevention and community initiatives. I am worried about the cost of my treatment. How can you help? We understand that cost is an important consideration. To make it easier for our patients, HICAPS allows us to claim health fund benefits on the spot so you only need to pay the difference. We also accept various forms of payment in VISA, MasterCard, cash and cheque. Please also ask us about Denticare, a payment plan that allows patients to undergo all the treatment they require, whilst paying in instalments over an agreed period of time.
