During the season of Lent we are called to prayer, fasting, and acts of charity. Numerous among our currentliturgical music repertoire are hymns and songs that center around the first two activities. In my experience, however, I have not come across many Lenten songs that center around the third activity: acts of charity. Asa result, the ministerial character of this season is usually overshadowed by hymns or songs that foster amore personal approach to conversion. I wanted to write a song that would challenge us to look deeper intothe ministerial dimension of Lent. “In These Days of Lenten Journey” attempts to do so, particularly from asocial justice perspective.
