Plenary sessionsTraditional panel discussions and presentations

Kenote address: French export finance – what’s new for 2018?The DG Trésor and Bpifrance are set to announce a raft of product and policy changes in Q4 2017. This keynote address will

update you on the details of the changes and give you a chance to ask questions about how they will affect your business. It will also serve as an analysis of Bpifrance’s first year in operation as the French ECA.

Senior representative, DG TrésorMaëlia Dufour, Director International Relations, Product Development, Ratings, Bpifrance Assurance Crédit

Where are all the deals? This concise data review reveals recent deal activity from French exporters and highlights the areas most likely to show growth in 2018.

Beauty contest: What other tools are available to support exports? From capital markets tools, to institutional investors, to private insurance, this panel explores the other tools available to support

exporters for the deals that are either too risky, off cover or ineligible for ECA support. Paul Torrington, Director, BPL Global

Exporters’ responseThis keynote panel of exporters responds to the changes announced by the French government and explain their business

objectives: Do they feel the new system will have a positive impact? Are there further changes that could be made? How have they found the new system for state guarantees so far?

Policy update: IranThe first ECA-supported exports into Iran may be just around the corner, and Bpifrance are due to announce financing options for the country. This session will look at what options are available and whether ECA cover is now a viable option for French exports into Iran.

Facilitating infrastructureWhat do bilateral development banks, multilateral agencies and infrastructure funds offer? How does their

offering fit into the export finance world? How do they operate and who are their main clients?

Should France offer a “one-stop-shop” for Export Finance?France has multiple institutions to support exports, from the AFD and Proparco, to Bpifrance, to the DG Trésor. Could – or should

– they work together more closely? Are there advantages of creating a “France Ex-Im” to act as a one-stop-shop for French exporters? Or would that create unhealthy competition with other financing institutions and undermine their business?

New system for French state guarantees – what worked and what could be betterWe invite you to pin your feedback about the French ECA to our corkboard: What works well in the status quo? What could

be better? What would you hope to see from Bpifrance in the future? We will use your messages as the basis for an interactive brainstorm about how to streamline the new system for French export credits.

Industry duels

Idea labs

Oxford-style debates on issues pertinent to the French export market

Interactive, capped-attendance discussion groups led by an industry expert

ECA comparisonWhat do other European ECAs offer, and how do their products compare to the French system? Could Bpifrance and other institutions

learn lessons from one another’s ways of working? From direct lending, to provisions to cover sanctions snapback, to “national interest” rather than “national content” models.

How to encourage new exportersShare ideas on how to encourage more French companies to export – from greater collaboration between Bpifrance and Business

France for streamlined origination, to new financing products for small exporters, to guidance on KYC/AML compliance and more.

Expanding into Sub-Saharan AfricaFrom traditional markets in West Africa (such as the Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon and Senegal)

to countries further afield like Ghana and Mozambique, this session looks at the complexities involved in exporting into Africa. What are the local banking landscapes like? What is the best way to approach due diligence processes? What risks need to be

taken into consideration, and how can they be mitigated? What are the best sources of financing?

Filling the peripheries: Local costs and downpayment financingA comprehensive guide to the options available for exporters to financing the parts of their projects not covered by traditional structured ECA cover: ineligible local costs and downpayments. What solutions are available, and what are the advantages and

disadvantages of each?Henri d’Ambrières, CEO, HDA Conseil

Untangling MENALearn about the cultural, financial and geopolitical complexities of doing business in the Middle East and North Africa. Which

sanctions might affect you and how can you make sure you are acting within the law? How might relations between Saudi Arabia and other countries like Yemen and Qatar affect you? Which markets are showing the most growth?

WorkshopsEducational sessions designed at helping you understand technical issues
