The first Colonial Empire
The first colonial empire began in 1605 and went on into the 19th century.
Began with the foundation of Port Royal in North America.
Formed by agencies and stimulation of the states, church and armed forces.

The Second French colonial empire
The second empire existed from 1830 to 1870.
By 1914 France had an empire that consisted of over 4,000,000 square miles and 60 million people.
Eventually reorganized as the French Union.
