Ohio Valley Indians, led by Chief Pontiac, attacked British forts.
They wanted the British to leave their land
After many bloody attacks the Indian numbers and supplies were weak
Britain couldn’t afford another war so they made an agreement with the Indians
Proclamation of 1763
No Americans could settle west of the Appalachian Mountains.
Designed to keep colonists and Native Americans apart
British agreed to pay half of maintaining this line with military but colonists refused to pay the other half.
Colonist’s Reaction
Went against British rule and moved west anyway
Many, especially land speculators were angry
