Mediums for Hire? Anyone?

“No worthy Spirit of the higher realm would make themselves available for those charging for readings, or futile information.”“Communications from beyond the grave are too serious and require too much respect to serve as exhibitions.”

5

Mediums for Hire? Anyone?

Visitor – I can understand this line of reasoning from a moral point of view; however, isn’t it fair for those who give their time to the interest of their cause to be compensated for it if it keeps them from working for a living?A. K. – In the first place, are they really doing it in the interest of their cause, or are they doing it for their own gain? If they did leave their job, it was because they were not satisfied with it, and because they hope to earn more or work less at their new one. There is no self-sacrifice in giving one’s time when it can lead to making a profit from it. That would be like saying that the baker makes bread in the interest of humankind. Mediumship isn’t the only resource open to them; without it, they would have to earn their living some other way. When they do not have independent means, truly serious and devoted mediums look for ways to earn a living with regular work, and they do not give up their jobs. They devote only as much time as they can to their mediumship without jeopardizing themselves, and if they do so voluntarily in their leisure time or rest, it is simply devotion on their part; they are thus valued and respected all the more for it.

Allan Kardec - Item #159

"Everyone who is, to any degree, influenced by spirits is, by that very

fact, a medium. This faculty is inherent in man, and is therefore no exclusive privilege; therefore, rare are those

who do not possess some rudiments of the faculty. We may, therefore, assume

that everyone is more or less a medium."

7

Inspired Mediums

Inspiration comes to us all, from spirits who influence us, for good or for evil, in every circumstance of our lives, and in every resolution we make, and it may therefore be truly said that, in this respect, everyone is a medium, for there is no one who has not about him his familiar spirits, who do their utmost to suggest salutary or pernicious counsels to those with whom they are connected."

8

Need for Education

Mediumship can become, to the medium, either: • a cause for spiritual improvement • a negative karma for the future

The development of mediumship depends on the moral development of the medium?

No. Strictly speaking, mediumship depends on the organism and is independent of the moral nature. This, however, is not the case as regards the use made of mediumship, which may be good or bad, according to the moral qualities of the medium.”

THE GIFT OF HEALING

Restore health to the sick; raise the dead; heal lepers and cast out

demons. Give freely what you have received freely. (Mt. 10:8)

Passes – Andre Luiz

Many different types of services developed under the responsibility of the discarnate and incarnate

coworkers- this work was attended to by six spirits dressed in very

white tunics, who acted as watchful nurses. - All the persons who entered the room received their

wholesome touch, and after attending to the incarnates, they ministered effective help to unfortunate spirits from our plane, especially those who composed the family entourage of our incarnate friends.

11

Passes – Andre Luiz

“These particular individuals are magnetic assistance technicians who come here to dispense healing passes. It is a delicate department of what we do and it requires much discretion and responsibility.”  “Do such workers need any special qualifications?” Andre Luiz asked.  Alexandre says: YES!

12

Passes – Andre Luiz

“Missionaries involved in magnetic assistance, either on the physical plane or here in our sphere, must have great self-control, naturally balanced sentiments, a purified love for their fellow beings, a higher understanding of life, strong faith and a deep trust in the Divine Power. However, I must point out that, on our plane, these requirements are demands that one cannot be exempted from, whereas on the physical plane, sincere goodwill can overcome this or that deficiency in many cases. This is justifiable because of the assistance given by the benefactors from our realm of action to human workers who are still incomplete in terms of desirable qualities.”

13

Passes – Andre Luiz

“Generally speaking, could incarnates help out in these activities of magnetic assistance?” “In different degrees of intensity, all of them would be able to extend their fraternal help in this sense, because once an authentic desire to cooperate for the benefit of others is displayed by this or that worker, the authorities from our realm appoint wise and benevolent spirits who indirectly guide the newcomer by using his or her goodwill and by enriching his or her personal qualities. However, very few demonstrate a vocation to serve willingly. Of course, when we refer to our incarnate brothers and sisters, we cannot demand anybody’s cooperation in our usual field of work; however, if any of them come looking for us, requesting admission to the tasks of assistance, they will of course receive our best guidance in the area of spirituality.”

14

Passes – Andre Luiz

“So, even if human helpers display few qualities, can they still be utilized?” Andre Luiz asked curiously

Of course,” Alexandre added attentively. “As long as they remain interested in the sacred acquisitions of the good above any transitory concerns, they can expect the continuous progress of their faculties of radiance not only from their own efforts but also from well-deserved help from On High.

Paid Prayers

Then in the audience of all the people He said unto His

disciples, Beware of the Scribes, which desire to

walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets,

and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief

rooms at feasts; which devour widows’ houses, and

for a shew make long prayers: the same shall

receive greater damnation (Luke, 20: 45-47; also Mark, 12: 38-40 and

Matthew, 23: 14).

16

Paid Prayers

Scribe: a person who writes books or documents by hand as a profession. The work would include copying books (by dictation), so they knew how to write really well, included sacred and holy texts, so they were considered to be highly intellectual and therefore highly respected individuals.

17

Paid Prayers

When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites who take pleasure in standing in the synagogues and on street corners, praying in order to be seen by men. Verily, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you want to pray, go into your room, and with the door closed, pray to your Father in secret; and your Father, who sees what happens in secret, will reward you. Do not feign to pray much in your prayers as do the heathen, who think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not become like them, because your Father knows what you need even before you ask him. (Mt.6:5-8)

18

Prayers – Andre Luiz

Anacleto tells Andre Luiz the following: “By raising the mental level of the person who trusts and believes in Divine Power, prayer facilitates the exchange between the two realms and our task of fraternal assistance. Large armies of discarnate workers are active everywhere in the name of Our Father.”

The Moneychangers Expelled from the Temple

They then came to Jerusalem, and Jesus, having entered the temple,

began to expel those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the

moneychangers and the seats of those who were selling doves. And

he allowed no one to carry any wares through the temple. He

also taught them, saying: “Is not my house to be called a house of

prayer for all the nations? But you have made it a den of thieves.”

When the chief priests heard this, they sought a means to kill him, for they feared him because all

the people were taken by wonder at his doctrine. (Mk. 11:15-18;

Mt. 21:12-13)

Life is calling…are we listening?

O Spiritists! Love one another; this is the first teaching. Educate yourselves; this is the second.  “Walk while you have the light, so that the darkness does not overtake you.”– Jesus (Jn. 12:35)
