I’ve always heard that when the acorns start falling early that means the squirrels are preparing for a long, cold winter and it looks like it’s true. While we all want nothing more than to stay warm inside surrounded by family with a board game or good movie, we have exciting new classes that will make you want jump in the car on a winter adventure!

As I told you in our Fall catalog, Parks and Recreation is taking a new di-rection. Our staff here has taken your feedback and spent tireless hours meeting, evaluating, discussing, and planning how to bring you exactly what you want and need. We still have a long way to go, but we have gotten the ball rolling as you will see by the offerings in this catalog. Just to give you a few ideas:

By popular request we expanded our Farmer’s Market to reach our Mayfield residents as well as our military families at Quantico. Addition-ally, to help keep you healthy after you shop the Market, we are offering “Whole Body Herbal Health.” We listened to our local artists and are bringing an array of new photography classes to our department such as “Makeup for Models and Photographers,” “Creative Photography Techniques,” and more. To better prepare our young athletes getting ready to try out for high school sports, we will be having our first-ever Youth Softball Clinic that will be run by local high school coaches. Not only that, but we are bringing back our 3-on-3 Adult Basketball League. In an effort to get our teenagers engaged, we have put together “Teen Time Outside” where teenagers will hang out with their peers and learn a useful outdoor skill such as fire building. Our events have undergone some revamping as well. We have combined two of our popular chil-dren’s events, the Children’s’ Art Show and the Children’s Art Expo into one huge creative event now called the Children’s Art Show and Experi-ence. By joining these two events together, it will foster more creative hands-on learning amongst siblings and parents alike.

As always we welcome your feedback about our offerings; do you like the new changes? Do you want to see more changes? If so, what would those be? We make sure to take all of the emails, phone calls, and personal visits we get from the residents of Fredericksburg into consid-eration. After all, we are here to serve you! We hope you enjoy what we have to offer this Winter/Spring and hope to see you at our classes, programs, and events!

Sincerely,

Bob AntozziDirector

Portland, Maine — Portland offers a unique combination of Maine's rich history and its own vibrant culture. Local artisans offer their handiwork along the streets of the Arts District and the Old Port Exchange. Colorful boats line the shores of Casco Bay, and won-derful freshly cooked seafood abounds in this charming seaside town.

Bar Harbor, Maine — Nestled on the east side of Mt. Desert Island and sur-rounded by Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor features some of the most spectacular scenery on the Eastern Seaboard. The rock-bound coast, soaring granite cliffs, majestic mountains and blue waters have attracted the Rockefellers, Astors, and Vanderbilts for over 200 years, and continue to enchant visitors today.

St. John, NB (Bay of Fundy) — Founded by Loyalists escaping the Revolu-tionary War in 1785, Saint John has emerged as a thriving port city. Its restored historic waterfront and surrounding natural beauty have made Saint John a wonderful destination.

Halifax, Nova Scotia — As your ship comes into port, a bagpiper will welcome you to Halifax, the capital city of Nova Scotia. The "City of Trees" offers the warmth and charm of a small town along with all the excitement you would expect from a great city. Peggy's Cove, Citadel Hill, and the Acadian Country are just a few of the sights that will herald your arrival here.
