•  Rainy Day/Scorcher Day (temp above 89°):  Students eat lunch under the lunch shelter or in the auditorium and recess is spent indoors.

Food Services

•  Pre-pay for lunches on site in the morning or online at ezschoolpay.com. Apply for Free/Reduced lunch at mealsapp.gusd.net or pick up an application in the front office. GUSD Food Services Phone Number is 818-552-2677.

•  Breakfast 7:45 to 8:00 AM  or at recess Full Price = $1.25; Reduced price = $ .25

•  Snacks are optional. You may send a small, nutritious snack (e.g. vegetables/fruit or cheese/crackers)

•  Lunch may be brought to school or purchased in the school cafeteria. Full Price = $2.50; Reduced price = $ .40  

•  Note: On minimum days, the cafeteria will only serve sack lunches.

Food (Continued)

•  Please do not include candy, junk food or soft drinks in your child’s lunch.

•  Prepare lunches that your children like, and have them participate in packing their lunch.

•  Pack lunches that are easy to access and easy to eat (e.g. a sandwich as opposed to soup in a hard-to-open container and no spoon) and practice opening food containers with your children.  

•  Check the cafeteria menu (www.gusd.net under family resources: lunch menu) and decide if there are days your child wants a school lunch. Also make sure that you have pre-paid or send money with your child.

•  If there is an item your child is allergic to, you may add an alert on the point of sale with a doctor’s note.

•  Students should not bring glass containers of any kind, play or run in the eating area; trade, share, or collect food.

General Information

•  Attendance: We expect students to be in school, on time every day they are not sick

•  Parties/Invites: Invitations should not be given out at school. Please do not bring any food items to celebrate birthdays. You may arrange with the teacher to bring non-food item (i.e. pencils, books, etc.)

•  Lost and Found: Make sure to label jackets, backpacks, lunchboxes, water bottles with your child’s first and last name. Things that are not picked up are donated at the end of each month.

•  Classroom Interruptions are not Allowed. Please make sure your child is prepared for school each day with their materials prior to dropping them off.

School Safety

•  Visiting Campus: Must Be Scheduled; Must Sign In •  Monthly Safety Drills (Fire, Earthquake, Lockdown)

•  Make sure your child dresses appropriately for the weather and wear closed-toed shoes good for PE and recess

•  When your child is in your care, please make sure you are supervising them. Do not let them climb the trees or gates or do anything that is unsafe.

•  Safety is our biggest priority during drop off and pick up. DO NOT block or park in driveways, double park, or make U-turns in the middle of the street. Make sure to always use crosswalks.

Drop Off

•  All students (K-6th Grades) enter through the Justin Street gate in the morning  

•  Justin Street Gate closes at 8:05. Late students need to enter through the office on Lake Street to get a late/tardy note.

•  Either park and walk or drive up. If your child needs assistance exiting the car, please park and walk.

•  Drive Up Lane will be on Justin Street   

•  VOLUNTEERS needed to greet and open doors

Pick Up

•  Do not try to conference with the teacher at the gate. Please make an appointment.

•  Daycare students will be picked up by EEELP staff

•  Kindergarten:  You must park to pick up your child at the designated gate on Justin. There will be signs posted for where to line up for which teacher.

Pick Up 1st-3rd Grades

•  Drive Up – on Justin Street (1st-6th Grades): Please make an easily visible sign with your child’s first and last name and display on your dashboard

•   Walking Gate – on Winchester Street:

•  1st - 3rd Grades: Please line up along the fence on Winchester Street after your child’s class has arrived to the gate (not before). State your child’s name to the staff member.

•  4th - 6th Grades: Wait by the Winchester Street gate. Students will be released to meet you. You do not need to line up. Please make sure to inform your child’s teacher if he/she is walking home on his/her own.

Prior to Coming to School

•  For Kindergarten: Attend Sneak Peek

•  August 15th, 2-3 PM in classroom; Reception 3-4 PM on Kindergarten playground

•  Discuss with your child the expectations of being in a dual program and that the teacher will only be speaking to them in the target language.

First Day of School

•  Parents are allowed to come on campus through the Justin gate the first day of school only.

•  After the first day of school, we will have “Kinder Buddies” (upper grade students) who will walk younger children to their lines.

•  There will be signs with teacher names for line up on the playground.

•  Attend PTA Gathering 8-9 AM in Auditorium (There will be treats and tissue boxes.)
