He sa i d t ha t the IACB plan before leavingMiami was to t r a i n in Guatemala for approximately s ix

weeks, then proceed by boat to Cuba on November l , 1968,and to conceal themselves in a pre-a rranged Sie r ra MaestraMountains , Oriente Province , hideout un t i l next January 1,when a r a id to capture p o l i t i c a l o r mil i t a ry pr isoners

would be ca r r ied out , these pr i soners to be l a t e rexchanged for Cuba-held p o l i t i c a l pr i soners . He s a id

t ha t he and a l l the others involved were aware of t h i sgenera l ou t l ine of the planned operat ion before depar t

ing from Flor ida i nd iv idua l ly or in smal l groups. Headded, however , tha t he was not to par t i c i pa t e in the

Cuba phase of the operat ion . His par t , he s a id , wasto fu rn i sh h i s Spanish language a b i l i t y during the

a l ready s e t up cu t s id e Comitan, about one mile from the

Guatemalan border .

He sa i d t ha t the base camp near the GuatemalaMexico border was broken li.P about the 23rd of October , nor e a l t r a in ing a c t u a l l y having been conduc ted , and t hose

number not di sc losed encampe d the re had proceeded to

Merida , Mexico, to j o i n o th e r IACB members a l ready a t

Merida . All 13 in . the fo rce f i na l ly converged a t a beachencampment near Progreso a por t c i t y a shorL disLance fromMerida . This encampment was c a l l e d Camp Sand , in c o n t r a s t

to the mountain encampment, which llad been c a l l e d Camp Mud.

Around t he 28th of October , they boarded the

Amigo, a Mexican c h a r t e r f i sh ing boat a t Progreso andheaded to sea fo r a rendezvous with ano the r c r a f t . Theo t h e r s were to t r a n s f e r to the second boat and proceedto Cuba, whi le he was to r e tu rn to Progreso in the Amigo,then to re tu rn to Flor ida . He s a i d he had no in fo rmat ion

concern ing the i d e n t i f i c a t i o n of the second boat or i t spassenge rs .

He sa i d t h a t the cap ta in of the Amigo was noti n t im id a t ed in any way, was paid in Mexican pesos the

eq u iv a l en t of about $250 American money, and coopera ted

f u l l y with the IACB group in a t t empt ing to e f f e c t the sea

rendezvous with a second c r a f t . He sa i d the problem w3st h a t FR NK FIORINI was too se c re t i v e with the Amigocap ta in about t he i r sea d e s t i n a t i o n as regards the course

which had to be s e t to reach it He had the f ee l i n g t ha tthey were a little e a r l y and t ha t FIORINI was d i r e c t i n g az igzag course as a means o f delaying t h e i r a r r i v a l a t the

rendezvous po in t . At any rn t e the Amigo even tua l lyran aground on the Turnef fe I s l ands near Bel i ze B r i t i s h

Honduras . He r e c a l l e d t ha t the Amigo cap ta in had warnedFIORINI t h a t he, the cap t a in . was unfami l i a r with t he se

water s . It was obvious to GONZALEZ, from prev ious course

Bel ize as a r e s u l t of the grounding fo r r e fue l jng andrepa i r s . At Bel ize those aboard the Amigo werede ta ined a f te t · severa l i n spec t ions by Br i t i s h HondurasCustoms and Immigrat ion a u t h o r i t i e s . These and theexped i t i on members who had been l e f t near the s i t e of

the grounding, awa i t ing the re turn of the Ami.go, wereeven tua l ly charged with i l l e g a l en t ry i n to Br i t i s h Hondurasand were j a i l e d a t Bel ize . Their arms and ammunition were

se ized and, a f t e ra

hear ing a t Bel ize on November l 1968a l l were ordered depor ted from Br i t i s h Honduras.

He s a id t ha t con t ra ry to publ ic repor t s no

automat ic weapons were se ized by Br i t i s h Honduras a u t h o r i t i e snor were any in the possess ion of the IACB group a t any t ime

to h is knowledge. He added tha t h had c a r r i e d no arms o r

ammunit ion of any descr ip t ion in to Mexico with him a d knows

of no o ther IACB member who t r anspor ted arms or ammunit ionfrom the United Sta tes in to Mexico.

He sa id tha t he knows of no s t o l e n or ren ted c a r s

p o s s ib ly involved in the IACB ope ra t ion and added t h a t he

had only seen one ca r in use in Mexico by the group. Hedec l ined to descr ibe t h i s ca r but sa i d t h a t t was notnew and apparent ly belonged to one o the IACB members.

He sa id t ha t he had not been i s sued in connoct ion

with t h i s IACB opera t ion a blank b i r t h c e r t i f i c a t e Uni tedSt a t e s Army honorable discharge papers or a blank F lo r id a

Motor Vehicle Ce r t i f i c a t e of T i t l e and knows nothing ofany of the o the rs being i ssued any of these documents .
