REFLECTION ON THE LITURGY OF THE WORD W e rejoice this Laetare Sunday, at the halfway mark of our Lenten journey. Not because we have three weeks of Lenten sacri- fices remaining, but because our celebration today reminds us that God is always ready to forgive, always ready to be reconciled with us. How have our Lenten dis- ciplines opened us up to the won- der of God’s reconciling love? How are we willing to be likewise reconciled with our loved ones, our neighbors and even those who have hurt us? The word from the Scripture’s is reconciliation. We are all familiar with the Parable of the Prodigal Son, whose loving father gave him the gift of reconciliation beyond his expectations. Likewise, God’s reconciliation with Israel was complete when they arrived in the Promised Land: “Today I have removed the reproach of Egypt from you.” St. Paul tells us that reconciliation is a two-way-street: God reconciles with us and we with God. “We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who did not know sin, so that we may become the righteousness of God in him.” MARCH 31, 2019 PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR BELOVED DECEASED FRANK P. Third week Theme: Facing Our Sins

In the Words of St. Anthony:

The sinner must unhesitatingly put all works squarely before one’s mind’s eye and regard them often and

attentively with sorrow of heart. In this way you will be able to produce from them the fruit of penance.

Were one courageously to set one’s inner self before your eyes, you would find nothing there but reason for true sorrow of

heart and the desire to return to the ways of God.
