Advent . . . The Journey with Mary! Fourth Sunday: The Announcement of the birth of Jesus, Joseph and Mary made. “Learning from Mary and accept Christ who is the Light of the World”. The firm intention to accept Jesus in our hearts, our families and our communities. We light the fourth purple candle of the Ad-vent Wreath. Is there something in my life I am resisting? How can Mary’s example help me become more accepting of God’s plan? What can I do this last week of Advent to prepare my-self for the mystery of Christmas? What habits or attitudes have I developed this Advent that I would like to take with me for the rest of the year? PARISH INFORMATION

D ear friends in Sacred Heart:

We are at the end of Advent; I hope you have had time for reflection and dialogue with God during this time. Christmas is the proper time to nourish our faith contemplating the Son of God who came into our flesh.

At the end of Advent there are some symbols we can use to meditate and be focused on to celebrate our Holy Days. Have you placed in your home a “Nativity set”? This is great for your family to be together and united to pray before or after our journey. Remember that praying helps us address our thoughts and feelings to God, receiving from Him peace in our hearts and making ourselves more patient with one another and be better self-controlled people. So if you have placed your Nativity set in your home, do not use it just as a simple decora-tion for your furniture, use it as a symbol of unity and blessings for your family. Maybe you are set and ready with all your Christmas gifts, maybe you are in a hurry trying to find the best deal for this season in the stores or online, just remember the best gift of Christmas is FREE! We need to spend our time and our efforts to receive Jesus’ birth into our hearts! The best things in life you cannot buy in a store. Patience, care, prudence, tenderness, compassion, friendship, and understanding - to mention just a few. These are presents for our family that we just earn through keeping Jesus Christ in our hearts, and put-ting in practice every day. Jesus is life! Jesus is Christmas! I want to thank all of you for your help and your generosity for our parish, for all of you who took a tag from our Christmas tree and bought what was written on it. Thank you for keeping in your heart the beautiful spirit of Christmas in our community. On behalf of all the staff members working in Sacred Heart Parish, from Fr. Meyr, Fr. Benedict and my-self, we wish you a beautiful time with your family and friends, peace and harmony among your families; may the new born child Jesus light up your heart with His presence. Merry Christmas to all of you!

Peace to all Fr. Francisco Ortega

Paz y bien Fr. Francisco Ortega
