The Church’s antidote to an individualism which threat-ens the respect for human dignity is community and soli-darity. Are we moved by the suffering of those without shelter? Do we seek to alleviate the fear, confusion and panic that women facing unexpected pregnancies may be experiencing? Do our hearts ache for elderly patients in nursing homes who feel abandoned and unwanted, hav-ing no one to visit them? Our mission is to show each person the love of Christ. As uniquely created individuals, we each have unique gifts which we are called to use to share Christ’s love. - USCCB

LOW GLUTEN COMMUNION HOST PROCEDURE

If you require a low-gluten host for Communion at Mass, it will be necessary for you to personally put it aside prior to the Mass. The low-gluten hosts are located in the upper left corner of the refrigerator door in the kitchenette of the Church. Please put on a plastic glove, take a host and place it on the small paten (gold dish) on the offertory table in the back of Church. If needed, ask an Usher or Ministry Captain to assist you. When receiving Holy Communion, use the middle aisle and inform the priest or deacon that you need a low-gluten host.

What is an "Active" Parishioner?

Registering in a Catholic parish is a decla-ration of your desire to be part of a Catholic faith community and a commitment to the life of the parish family. Your Catholic commitment brings you many advantages, recognition, and responsi-bilities.

The Parish staff is often asked to provide affidavits to parishioners for baptismal and/or confirmation sponsors. They can only do this if a person is a registered and ac-tive member in our parish.

The Diocese of Columbus defines "active" members of a parish as individuals who celebrate the weekly Mass at

their church, volunteer their time/talent, and give finan-

cial support to the parish.

These are also the fundamental aspects of Saint Brigid of Kildare's own Tapestry Program. Being active is not about giving a specific amount of money or time--it is about regular participation. As each parishioner has dif-ferent financial and time constraints, Saint Brigid of Kil-dare has a wide range of opportunities available to donate your time, talent or treasure.

The purpose of our Tapestry Program is to provide all of our parishioners with the opportunity to discover their own gifts and how they can share them with our parish community.

St. Brigid Elementary

School News

Last week, our eighth grade students celebrated the sacra-ment of Confirmation. After months of studying and prepa-ration, these students were excited for this final sacrament of initiation. Each completed a lengthy research report on his/her Confirmation saint, completed a minimum of 25 hours of service, and studied the history and meaning of the sacrament. Please keep our eighth grade students in your prayers as they celebrate this life changing and life giving sacrament and begin their new life as full members of our parish.

A Special Mother's Day Gift

Mother's Day will again be the focus of the Christ Child Socie-ty of Columbus' annual Layette Fund Drive. Our members assemble a gift package of baby care items. Each layette contains a sleep sac, receiving blan-ket and/or handmade quilt, sleepers, onesies, a bottle, dia-pers, wipes, bib, book, towel and washcloth, and educational material about infant care for new mothers. Last year 1,700 layettes were distributed to needy mothers and their babies throughout Central Ohio. A layette can be purchased in hon-or of (or in memory of) your mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter, sister and friend. A personalized Mother's Day card announcing your thoughtful gift will be sent to your honoree or to her family (in memory of). Also a card bearing the name of your honoree (or in memory of) will be inserted in one of our layettes.

To order a layette, send the name and address of the honoree or her family (in memory of) and a check ($35.00 for each layette) payable to Christ Child Society of Columbus. Please send the order by April 25, 2016 to Layette Fund Chair, Christ Child Society of Columbus, P.O. Box 340091, Colum-bus, OH 43234-0091.
