ALTAR SOCIETY Funeral food and the process of preparing and serving it to the
family has gone on for as many years as the parish has been in
existence. We currently are needing members to sustain our
fundraising capabilities which provide for these services or that
would be willing to give their contact information to be called
on when there is a funeral or a request at our parish. You do not
have to be a member of the altar society to add your name to the
list. If interested please contact Lidia del Toro (512)825-2676 or
Dora Castañeda (512)308-0701
Virginia Dailey was elected as President of the Southern Coun-
cil of Catholic Women at their quarterly meeting last Sun-
day. Kay Condit was elected as Treasurer of the same Coun-
cil. Ascension parish is honored that these two ladies were
elected to represent our parish at the Council level. Virgin-
ia will also represent the Council as a member of the board of
The Austin Diocesan Council of Catholic Wom-
en. The Ascension Family Altar Society members are extreme-
ly proud to have these two ladies represent them in the future
regarding some of the changes effecting our family and parish
values.
PRO LIFE “Pope Francis has seen a deeper link between the poor and the
unborn. They are both among the first victims of a ‘throw-away
society,’ an attitude that sees people as disposable when they do
not serve the selfish interests of those with more power.
GOSPEL MEDITATION
Today’s Gospel tells us that Jesus taught in the synagogue “as one
having authority.” Can you recall a favorite catechism or religious
education teacher? Say a prayer for that person and the good things
they taught you.

Monthly Theme for families:
February 2015: Two Become One
We are not made to be alone. Human beings need and complete each
other. Friendship and community satisfy that longing with bonds of
common interest and love. Marriage is a uniquely intimate form of
friendship that calls a man and a woman to love each other in the man-
ner of God’s covenant. Marriage is a Sacrament. Married love is fruit-
ful and offered without reservation. This love is in the image of Jesus’s
faithfulness to the Church.
March
SCOUT SUNDAY
