St. Charles Borromeo Church July 5, 2015

Carnival 2015 kicks off this Wednesday,

July 8, at 6:00pm. with the Opening Parade from

Parma Circle, north on Ridge Road to the Carni-

val grounds. This year’s parade will honor

“Scouting—Past and Present.” Those with any

ties to Scouting are welcome to march. Contact

Parade Chairman Sean Brennan for details at 440-884-0489.

Scouting at St Charles goes back to 1937—the longest continuous

parish organization.

On Wednesday through Sunday, July 8 to 12, the

Carnival grounds will be open from 6:30 till 10:30pm.

The heart of Carnival profit comes from the Raffle. This

year we are offering:

2015 Ford Escape SUV,

a shingle roof worth $4500

$3500 worth of (your choice) Gift Certificates.

For every white $5.00 Raffle ticket you buy, you are also entitled

to purchase a blue $2.50 Raffle ticket. Those who buy/sell eight

tickets also get a chance on the weekly $500 Sellers’

Appreciation Raffle. (Two more Raffles to go: July 5 and 12.)

On Wednesday, enjoy the music on our two stages:

Liverpool Lads and Brigid’s Cross. Then on Thursday we will

enjoy Shout and Koala Underground. On Friday night it will be

The New Barleycorn and Breakfast Club. On Saturday we will

welcome Tom Mroczka and the Music Box along with Custard

Pie. Then on Sunday swing and sway to Jimmy K and the

Ethnic Jazz as well as For Those About to Dock.

There will be plenty of good food, available from the

St Charles Kitchen and also from our various ethnic concession

stands. There will be lots of special snacks, too! Try the home-

made lemonade and the Euclid Beach custard.

On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, visit the Casino in the air

-conditioned Upper Parish Hall. And every evening, you will

find our famous Merchandise Bingo in the air-conditioned

comfort of the Corrigan Gym.

There will be lots of prizes in the Kids’ Corner along

with an assortment of kid-size rides.

Try your hand at the games of skill and top off the

evening at the Youth Group Ice Cream Booth.

On Saturday, July 11, plan on having a Cavatelli and

Meatball Dinner, served from 4:30 till 6:00pm. Advance tickets

are a must and they are available from the Parish Office today.

Carnival 2015 will pay for the newly-installed ceiling,

LED lighting, painting, and sound system in the Corrigan Gym.

Carnival 2015 will also help with the cost of replacement

windows in the 1927 School Building and its 1949 addition.

Since 1987, my first year as pastor, Carnival proceeds

have provided for the improvement and maintenance of our

parish plant. We have air-conditioned the church, halls, and

gym; renovated the former convent into the Activities Center for

parish use; built five new parish offices, created the Lower

Parish Hall; re-landscaped the property; re-built and upgraded

the organ in church; renovated the church interior; added new

classroom lighting and interior/exterior school doors; renovated

the Upper Hall; replaced the Charles Avenue fencing/lighting;

and the list could go on. All in all, about three million dollars

invested for our comfort, convenience, and safety.

Please do your part to make Carnival 2015 the best ever!
