Following close on the heels of J. Peters is INN The Oven, Fountain Inn’s premier Bakery, Coffee and Ice Cream Shop, coming early this summer. INN The Oven will offer fresh baked goods, a signature pound cake and melt-in-your-mouth cupcakes. Additionally, they will serve layer cakes, cookies, muffi ns, brownies, pies and freshly made fudge. Custom cakes for weddings, birthdays and showers are a big part of the service that INN the Oven will offer the Upstate.

Two individual counters will also feature, INN Your Cup and INN Your Cone! From fresh brewed coffee to your favorite dipping of Hershey’s Ice Cream, there is just the right dessert made fresh every day for you. Located at 107 North Main, watch for INN the Oven opening soon.

Now add LILIES ON MAIN, a fresh fl oral shop located at 100 North Main, to the infl ux of businesses opening in Fountain Innand one begins to see the vision, rebirth and development of downtown. “With the continued growth of our Arts Center and the catalyst it has provided to the development of local businesses, our town has an enormous potential for increased cultural tourism,” says Anita Sleeman, Assistant Center Director. Guided by the steady hand of Mayor Gary Long and City Administrator Eddie Case, the town has seen signifi cant growth in the past fi ve years. The city will make development announcements soon regarding new commercial growth along the 418 corridor and other industrial plans.

CAFFI! Cultural Arts Foundation Fountain Inn Creates Partnerships

The Fountain Inn Center for Visual & Performing Arts has added new partnerships thanks to CAFFI (Cultural Arts Foundation Fountain Inn). The non-profi t organization is working on raising capital, endowment, grants, and operational revenue to ensure the long-term viability of the Center. Under the direction of board President and local attorney Melvin Younts, members include: Park Sterling Bank Investment Banker Tripp Tuttle; Entrepreneur Developer John Hopkins; and Hillcrest Memorial Hospital CEO Dr. Eric Bour. Their leadership continues to create new partnership opportunities for the Center.

CAFFI’S work has included partnering with The Grainger Foundation, with assistance from Grainger Manager Ryan Tiller, who stepped forward to upfi t the Corporate Membership Room that will bear their name. This renovation will allow corporate meetings, sponsor receptions and more to be held in a state-of-the-art room at the historical facility. Greenville Hospital System, University Medical Center, and Hillcrest Memorial Hospital increased their partnership to support major programming at the Center including the recent successful performance of “Bye Bye Birdie.” BB&T Foundation also hosted its fi rst membership reception in the Golden Strip as part of their contribution to the Center and Caterpillar continues to not only support the Center, but utilizes its facility to hold quarterly meetings with employees and most recently with national suppliers.

The Center staff working with CAFFI continues to seek grants and other sources of funding with the hope that these monies will help fund programming, the endowment, and scholarships for children who cannot afford arts education.

Hosting three annual events, CAFFI is building an endowment fund that will provide operational support and capital expansion. Due to the success of all the programming and the enthusiasm of its board members, CAFFI believes that the Fountain Inn Center for Visual & Performing Arts will be here for generations to come. The love, care and encouragement of Anita Sleeman, Cheryl Pelicano, Van Broad and many of the adult and teenage actors have provided a strong foundation for every area of her life, giving her an appreciation for music and theater, motivating her to take guitar lessons and to express herself in song writing, and giving her confi dence to perform an original song in her school talent show. My son has been proud to watch her and his younger sister on stage, and he is looking forward to participating in drama camp this summer.
