Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital

A 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, the foundation is
committed to raising and receiving funds in support of the
hospital’s mission. Its objective is to generate, administer and
manage gifts, grants, bequests and trusts to further enhance
BSKHS’s excellence as a provider of comprehensive healthcare
services and clinical research through philanthropic support
of its programs, activities and facilities. The foundation is
governed by a volunteer board of directors with elected officers
comprised of a cross section of area business, community and
medical leadership.
The Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital (OLBH) Foundation is the philanthropic
arm of the Bon Secours
Kentucky Health System (BSKHS).

For patients this means OLBH’s cardiac services soon will include coronary intervention techniques such as cardiac stenting. It’s a minimally-invasive way to address cardiovascular issues before they manifest as a major health event. Meanwhile, cardiac catheterization services at OLBH allow for a better way to detect heart disease, as OLBH’s cardiac experts can use the minor procedure to identify narrow or blocked arteries and evaluate how well the heart is functioning. This makes catheterization an important tool in diagnosis.
In fiscal year 2015, the OLBH Foundation gave more than $45,000 (see disbursement chart on page 5) to benefit the new OLBH Heart & Vascular Center (previously the OLBH Vascular Center). The new center and its new services are possible thanks to the generosity of donors and for those who supported fundraising events that supported this endeavor…such as the OLBH Auxiliary’s annual golf benefit.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. It is why the professionals at OLBH want to change the focus from heart disease to heart health. The hospital is revolutionizing its approach to heart care that emphasizes education, prevention and early diagnosis while expanding its current services to include treatment for those that have already been diagnosed and for those that may be at risk. Patients in need of life-saving cardiovascular treatments will now be able to receive the care they need at OLBH. PCI services will begin at OLBH this spring. For more information, call the OLBH Heart & Vascular Center at (606) 833-3985.
THANKS to the donors and the sup-port of the OLBH Foundation, OLBH’s experienced and dedicated cardiac team members will soon provide new services that will allow them to better evaluate problem areas and the extent of cardiac issues. These new percutane-ous coronary intervention (PCI) services will soon make heart care at OLBH even better. Previously, access to full-service heart care in Kentucky has been limited to a select number of facilities, most normally in urban areas. Recently, OLBH was granted state approval to expand services. This decision will allow OLBH to increase its existing diagnostic cardiac catheterization service to also provide emergency and elective PCI services.
