Day 1 (LD): HOME PORT TO FORSTER: Monday 25 June 2018 Welcome to our 6 day stayput tour to Forster. This morning we depart home and make our way to our lunch break at the Campbeltown Catholic Club. Continuing on our afternoon’s drive sees us travel via the central coast, Newcastle and onto Bulahdelah. Our destination is Forster, where upon arrival we check in for the next five nights and freshen up for dinner. Island Palms Motor Inn, Forster, Ph: (02) 6554 5555 Day 2 (BD): FORSTER/TUNCURRY & NABIAC: Tuesday 26 June 2018 This morning we visit the Forster Arts And Crafts Centre. This is the largest working craft centre in NSW, providing an exciting and fascinating collection of locally made handcrafted pieces. The centre actually opened in 1989 and members can be seen daily working at their individual craft. Following our visit we have the opportunity to see one of Australia’s cleanest lakes - Wallis Lake. The lake stretches for 25 kilometres between Wallingat State Forest and a sliver of land that separates the lake from the sea. Our morning tea cruise will take us on a tour of these crystal clear, pristine waters, home to a rich seafood harvest including the famous Wallis Lake oyster. After disembarking we are free to buy some lunch (own expense). This afternoon we travel to the nearby town of Nabiac to visit the National Motorcycle Museum of Australia, a purpose built complex that houses some 800 motorcycles together with an enormous array of motorcycle memorabilia, toys, an extensive private library and a motorcycle orientated gift shop. Among the favourite machines on display are a Kenilworth scooter (1919), a twin cylinder water-cooled 2 stroke Scott, and a Vincent Black Knight. There is an excellent range of vintage bikes from the early nineteen hundreds, and of course many very interesting later machines. After our tour we head back to Forster with some time to relax before dinner at the motel. Island Palms Motor Inn, Forster, Ph: (02) 6554 5555 Day 3 (BLD): CUNDLETOWN, HARRINGTON & HANNAM : Wednesday 27 June 2018 After breakfast we board the coach for a day of sightseeing. Just near Taree, set on the banks of the beautiful Manning River, is the peaceful town of Cundletown. It is laid out as an English village with squares and radiating roads. We visit the Cundletown Hall where we’ll find the museum exhibiting displays relating to the dairy industry. We enjoy some morning tea and the opportunity to wander through the craft display before continuing on to the sleepy seaside townships of Harrington and Crowdy Head. The lookout at Harrington is a must-see as this is where the north arm of the mighty Manning River meets the ocean and the views are truly spectacular. From here we return to the highway and head north to the little hamlet of Hannam Vale, located in one of the most fertile and picturesque valleys on the mid north coast of NSW. The valley is like a soft green velvet cloth clad with peaceful grazing cows. Along the road we go through tunnels of greenery and past waterlily-clad dams. We’ll also see Hannam Vale Public School, built in 1892, and across the road is the old Hannam Vale Country Store, built in 1914. Both provide a great photo opportunity. Arriving at Moorland Cottage we stop to enjoy a light lunch. From here we continue south to Wingham to enjoy the sights of this well preserved 1800’s town including Wingham Brush, the last stand of eastern seaboard rainforest in NSW. The area showcases majestic Moreton Bay fig trees towering over the gently winding boardwalk and is also home to a large colony of grey-headed flying foxes. From here we head back to Forster via Tinonee, another small town which lies beside the Manning River. Founded in 1854, Tinonee was one of the earliest settlements and major commercial hubs on the river. Island Palms Motor Inn, Forster, Ph: (02) 6554 5555

Day 4 (BLD): GLOUCESTER: Thursday 28 June 2018 Today we head inland to Gloucester. The township is nestled in the foothills of the Bucketts Mountains (the word Bucketts is derived from the aboriginal word Buccans meaning ‘big rock’ - also known as the ‘Sleeping Giant’ as from some angles the formation does look like a sleeping giant). We enjoy a guided tour of Gloucester as well as a visit to the museum. Next we drive to the Hillview Herb Farm for lunch and an afternoon tour of the farm. Lunch is prepared from produce grown on the property and from the local district. We’ll then have a talk on growing herbs, how to use them and their many uses. Following our visit we return to Forster and relax prior to dinner. Island Palms Motor Inn, Forster, Ph: (02) 6554 5555 Day 5 (BD): LAURIETON & CAMDEN HAVEN: Friday 29 June 2018 Today we will head north leaving the highway at Kew and will make our way into the beautiful coastal fishing village of Laurieton where we will be treated to a spectacular river cruise. This 2 hour river cruise is an exploration into the beauty, history and magic of the Camden Haven Inlet as well as Watson Taylor Lake, North Haven, Dunbogan and Deauville. This is one of the most pristine, clean waterways on the east coast. See bottlenose dolphins, prolific bird life and even witness sea eagles being fed just metres from the boat. There is live commentary covering Aboriginal early settlement, logging, mining and maritime history, geology, and the Three Brother Mountains seen all from one spot with their Dreamtime story told. Following the cruise we have some free time for lunch (own expense) in Laurieton. This afternoon we will be treated to a ‘a real view’ of the waterways we’ve just cruised as we climb North Brother Mountain. The views from the lookout are simply breathtaking and provide a great photo opportunity. Having descended North Brother Mountain we will travel the scenic route along the coastline, passing through the hamlets of North Haven and Bonny Hills. From Bonny Hills we will reconnect with the highway. It is now just a short trip to Bago Vineyards where we will have the opportunity to taste traditional sparkling and varietal wines, local cheese, have a tour of the winery and soak up the beautiful scenery. Bago Winery also houses the largest hedge maze in NSW, with a total area of 10,000 square metres and 2000 metres of pathways. The design of the maze has taken inspiration from the surrounding vineyard and bush land. From the winery we head back to Forster via Old Bar and Diamond Beach. Old Bar is renowned for great surfing, fishing by river, beach or rocks and each year on the October long weekend hosts the Old ‘Bar Beach Festival’ which includes a World Record Kombi Gathering event. Today we make a visit to Wallabi Point where we’ll have a gentle walk through a delightful forest through to the headland giving glorious views both north and south along the coast. Following the gentle walk out to the headland it will be time to head back to Forster. Island Palms Motor Inn, Forster, Ph: (02) 6554 5555 Day 6 (BL): FORSTER TO HOME: Saturday 30 June 2018 After breakfast we farewell our hosts, reboard the coach and retrace our steps to home. We’ll make a stop in the outer suburbs of Sydney for lunch at the Pennant Hills Sports Club before continuing on to Canberra. We will arrive home later this afternoon completing our wonderful winter getaway to Forster and its surrounds.
