Overview The Timber Cruiser is an environmentally sealed handheld computer designed to function in the field (independently of a PC) and provide detailed stand evaluation results immediately. The Timber Cruiser allows the forester to grade each tree or log cruised and identify a product type by individual tree or overall species. With the integrated 5MP color camera, the forester can document specific trees, hazards or other elements of interest. Record detailed plot, stand notes and immediate plot footage totals with one key stroke. The GPS is integral to the CVM system and plots points used to overlay the stand onto a topographic or aerial map. Features • Fully stand alone - does not require a PC • Holds multiple cruises at the same time • Supports circular plot, strip, variable radius plot and prism cruises • Cruising styles include individual log, total tree length, total log cruises and log grade • Uses one or more form classes for each cruise • Supports log grades and standing values • Full information in the field by stand, plot, species, product and value • Flexibility allows user to choose individual log rules (Doyle, International, Scribner and others) within single plot or stand • Supports using internal species, grade and standing value timber file • Assign cost by grade for each log cruised • Receive immediate footage by log grade and total standing values • Detailed reports outlining cruise findings detailing species, total logs, total footage and standing values • Prints field tally, volume breakdown by grade and volume by product • Weight conversion calculations estimate pulpwood and topwood The Timber Cruiser In 1987 the original Timber Cruiser™ revolutionized the timber cruising industry. It allowed foresters to migrate from tally books and pencils to a handheld computer for faster and more accurate cruises. Today the Timber Cruiser represents another significant technological leap forward. With GPS plotting, topographic and aerial map overlays, built in 5MP color camera and Cruise Management Verification (CMV) system, timber cruising has reached a new level of efficiency. AERIAL MAPSTOPOGRAPHIC MAPSCruise Management VerificationThe Cruise Management Verification system (CMV) allows a Cruise Manager to more effectively manage a group of foresters. The Cruise Manager designates the cruise name as well as sets initial points in the ForestEaglesoftwarewhicharethenuploadedtothe Timber Cruiser handheld. These initial points can be used as a guide for the novice forester or as a simple outline for the more seasonedforester.Allplotscanbe loggedfor review at a later date or for verification of the cruise. The three main types of CMV cruises are:

GeoTag Cruise: All plots in the TimberCruiser handheld are time and date stamped and receive longitude and latitude coordinates from orbiting satellites. Afterdownloading the information, the ForestEagle software can compile the data toallow the Cruise Manager to increase efficiency by maximizing the time spenton a particular cruise and determine each cruiser’s efficiency level in the field.

Required Plot Cruise: Specific plot points are laid out by the Cruise Manager using theForestEaglesoftwareanduploadedtothe Timber Cruiser handheld. By adhering to the basic outline of the cruise set forth by the Cruise Manager the forester can utilize these points to ensure the entire plot is cruised appropriately and in a timely manner.

Guided Cruise: This format is used primarily by new cruisers. Initial plot points are laid outbytheCruiseManagerusingtheForestEaglesoftwareanduploadedtotheTimberCruiser handheld. These plot points are followed insequentialorderby thenoviceforester. This gives the new forester a starting point as well as a goal set by a more experiencedhand.

FSI has provided Log and Lumber Yard solutions since 1987. As with all our Yardmaster Log, Lumber and Pallet Systems, our handhelds are designed and supported by industry knowledgeable programmers and technicians. We listen, we understand.
