JUNE, 2014 NEWSLETTER June is here. It appears that the warm weather is going to be with us for a while.
Many things happen in schools during June - Track and Field, Tabloid Day, field trips, kindergarten orientation, school BBQ, planting vegetables and flowers, thinking about next year, grade 5 farewell, patrol training – every day gets busier and busier for your kids. The same is true for the teachers at Forest Park School. Other than the regular school activities, teachers are ar-ranging great days of memories for kids, writing final year report cards, or-dering supplies and making class lists for next year. Teachers spend hours and hours trying to find the best class for each child next year. Thank you for trusting your teachers to find the best classroom for your children next year.
With Amber Trails School opening next year, some students and teachers will be looking at changing schools next year. Of course, all of our grade five students will be leaving Forest Park School and most will be attending H. C. Avery School.
June is perhaps the busiest month of the year! With dance and music recitals, soccer, baseball, swimming, lacrosse, biking and hik-ing, be sure to take some time to relax and have some down time at home.

A big “Thank You” to Mrs. Dech, Mr. Allary, Mrs. Marchenski and Mrs. Judge for helping me supervise our Intramural soccer program.
Our Jump Rope For Heart “Jump-Off” was held on Wednesday, May 22. Students jumped out and skipped their way through 11 different stations for an afternoon of fun and fitness (am kindergarten did their “Jump Off” on Friday morning). Many red faces were seen that afternoon! Raising money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation was optional and collection envelopes should have been re-turned by now. Prizes should be at the school in 3—4 weeks. Thank you to the following parents who volunteered their time to make this event such a success: Mrs. Lischka, Mrs. Rourke, Mrs. Yatkso, and Mrs. Peters. Thank you also to all the E.A.s and substitute E.A.s, MET students, Niddhi and Hailey and Brett Marchenski for your help as well. It could not have been done without you! As of now, we do not have an official tally on the amount of money raised.
Our School Track and Field Meet was held on Monday may 25. Finally, the weath-er cooperated with us!. Grade 4 and 5 students competed in six different events. Top finishers in each event will represent Forest Park School at the Seven Oaks Divisional Track and Field Meet on June 4 at West Kildonan Collegiate (rain date June 6).
