• Safety Pass Alliance
– The Safety Pass Alliance was established in response to the
needs identified within industry and has undertaken to develop and extend the safety passport culture across all interested
sectors.
– Course delegates are trained over two days. The core session forms the first day of training and it covers the basics of general
health and safety good practice. The second day covers sector-specific training.
– The scheme includes the following sector-specific training days:
• Building Maintenance, Food & Drink, General Manufacturing,
Industrial Utilities, Motor Manufacturing, Petrol Retail,
Pharmaceutical, Ports & Shipping, Quarries, Underground Railways
– Supervisor course is aimed at those individuals who have either a supervisory or managerial role on site.

ECITB/CCNSG Safety Passport Scheme
• ECITB/CCNSG Safety Passport Scheme
– The aim of the Safety Passport Scheme is to ensure a basic
knowledge of health and safety for all site personnel to enable them, after appropriate site induction, to work on site more safely
with lower risk to themselves and others.
– The two-day training programme covers four modules:
• Safe Behaviour at Work
• Safe Place of Work
• Safe Systems of Work
• Safety Problems and Safe Solutions
– There is an additional day for supervisors, which emphasises the key role that supervisors have in securing health and safety
including safety communications and risk assessments.

Construction Skills Certification
Scheme (CSCS) Card
• The main aims of the CSCS are:
– To maintain a record of every operative in
construction occupations in the UK who
achieves a recognised level of competence
– To provide such operatives with a suitable
means of identification
– To be available on a voluntary basis to all
operatives engaged in construction activities
other than for those occupations already
covered by their own certification scheme
– Raise standards of health and safety
awareness in order to reduce risks and
accidents throughout the industry

Metals Industry Health & Safety
Passport • The MetSkill safety passport is a certification scheme
designed to demonstrate that employees in the metal
industry have achieved a basic level of competence in health
and safety at work. The MetSkill safety passport scheme
provides:
– a basic standard which should be a minimum for all
employees;
– evidence that all employees have knowledge and
understanding of health, safety and
– environmental issues and can apply this knowledge in
the workplace;
– individual certificates which recognise health and safety
competence

ACTA Passport
• ACTA passport scheme has been developed to ensure that
all construction workers at the airport(s) have appropriate
and current skills and competencies. The purpose is to
maintain a safe environment for employees, suppliers, and
visitors to airports, where construction and maintenance is
being carried out.
• All construction workers working at BAA Airports will be
issued with a Passport once they are fully compliant with the
BAA standards. This Card is linked to a central database
that stores a competency profile of each individual.

• The Vantage Offshore Passport System (OPS) was launched in 2001 by the Offshore Petroleum
Industry Training Organisation (OPITO) to improve
health and safety performance, and manage the
movement of personnel within the oil and gas
industries. It tracks workers offshore trip durations
and their competency and training

SCC Basic Elements of Safety
• Safety, Health and Environment Checklist Contractors (SCC)
was primarily developed to ensure for the objective assessment
and certification of the safety management systems of
contractors providing services to the (petro)chemical industry.
• The Basic Elements of Safety SCC qualification encompasses a
basic knowledge of issues such as legislation and regulations,
the meaning of 'risk', prevention, control measures, causes, the
recognition of dangerous actions and situations, accident
reports, work permits, hazardous chemicals and substances,
fire, explosion, confined spaces, tools and machines, hoisting,
lifting, carrying, stumbling, slipping, falling, working at heights,
welding, electricity, and personal protective equipment.

SCC Safety for operational supervision
• The safety for operational supervision diploma calls for basic
knowledge of safety, health and environmental issues and
the know-how to use this knowledge in practice to
improve the safety of their own and of the persons being
supervised.
• SOS-SCC emphasizes knowledge of relevant legislations and
regulations, ability to recognize hazardous situations and
unsafe actions and know-how to avoid them.

SSG ENTRE
• ENTRE is common safety training for contractors in the pulp
and paper
• The ENTRE training is interactive and will be done over
Internet.
• ENTRE is developed by 34 co-operating mills in the pulp and
paper industry.
• The purpose of ENTRE is to increase the safety in all
contract work.

FAS Safe Pass
• The purpose of the FÁS Safe Pass Health and Safety
Awareness Training Programme is to ensure that all
Construction site and Local Authority personnel, will have
a basic knowledge of Health and Safety, and be able to
work on site without being a risk to themselves or others
who might be affected by their acts or omissions.
• The Safe Pass Programme is aimed at all construction site
personnel, including new entrants, to ensure that they have
a basic awareness of health and safety.

OSHA Outreach Training Program
• The OSHA Outreach Training Program trains workers in the
basics of occupational safety and health.
• Through the program, individuals who complete a one-week
OSHA trainer course are authorized to teach 10-hour or 30-
hour courses in construction or general industry safety and
health standards. Authorized trainers can receive OSHA
course completion cards for their students.
