Foreign Direct Investment in the United States:Country and Industry Detail for Position and Balance
of Payments Flows, 1984The following 34 tables contain BEA's country-by-indus-
try estimates, and estimates by detailed account, of the po-sition and related capital and income flows for foreigndirect investment in the United States. In the past, BEAprovided an analysis of the position and flow data when itpublished these data. This year, as a result of efforts to ac-celerate the release of data, abbreviated country-by-indus-try position estimates were published in the June SURVEY,and an analysis appeared in that issue. The more detailedestimates will continue to be published in August.
The last two tables show data for all countries and forall industries for which there is investment; these data forU.S. affiliate position, capital flows, and income, are pre-sented for the first time.
NOTE.—The quarterly survey from which the annual estimates of for-eign direct investment in the United States were derived was conductedby Gregory G. Fouch, under the supervision of James L. Bomkamp,Chief, Foreign Direct Investment in the United States Branch. PatriciaJ. Davis and Tracy K. Leigh prepared the estimates.
